What character have you had the longest? Have they changed much?
I had earlier characters and stories, but the earliest ones that I still consider ‘my characters’ are the main Obsidian Sun gang. The whole story was inspired by a dream I had on a camping trip when I was 16. I woke up with the general vibe in my head, some key imagery, and these 8 characters and their names:
I was so instantly obsessed and had to know more about them. I immediately started writing an entire 130k word novel. Over the years, the story has gone through a TON of changes, and I’m reworking it from the ground up (hence why I’m focusing on Godflesh for now lol. Obsidian Sun is too special to me; I need to get it right!) I no longer feel beholden to the original dream like I did when I wrote the first draft as a 16 year old. We shall see what it becomes, eventually...
Which of your ocs do you think is most like you? Or one that you relate to the most? :)
The easy answer is all of my characters are like me in certain ways... but tbh I dragged myself HARD when I made Lyoda (also from Obsidian Sun). She loves her closest friends so much and would do absolutely ANYTHING for them, but the moment someone new comes along or someone changes the dynamic she’s like erm…. Nah I’m good. I’ve already got friends. Why wouldn’t my friends also be content to spend their lives with me, exactly the same way forever and ever??? Not fair!!! I’m gonna go sulk about it. (She’s way meaner and more aggressive than me though haha)

Youngest would be Gracie Penderman from Obsidian Sun! She’s Chester Penderman’s daughter. [CW S/A- sort of] Her mom is Natahila, an evil demon who injected Pend with her parasite spawn to torture and kill him, but instead he decided to raise that parasite as his daughter and love her very much. Despite having two demonic parents, she was born on the Earthworld and seems fully human. (But if that were true, why would Natahila be so determined to hunt her down and kill her?)
