🎬 + Persephone "Perri" Shaw (Criminal Minds)
How would they be introduced?
My OC, Persephone "Perri" Shaw, would be introduced in the midst of the Fisher King chaos at the end of Criminal Minds Season 1, following the attempted murder of Elle Greenaway. Perri is Elle's emergency contact from back when they were partners in the Sex Crimes department and would come straight away, meeting Aaron Hotchner and Jason Gideon at the hospital. It would be revealed that she is Elle's ex-girlfriend who she broke up with following Elle's transfer to the BAU. Her introduction would be a cameo to her reappearance in Season 2 after Elle resigns from the BAU and Perri is chosen from the candidates to replace her on the team.
Who does the fandom ship them with?
Besides Spencer Reid, they would probably ship her back with Elle Greenaway or Emily Prentiss, since they both begin on the BAU at the same time on probation. Perri develops a deep friendship with Emily due to both of them being the only confirmed and openly LGBTQ members of the BAU and because they are new, they stick together and bond over things they have in common.
Why the fandom loves them?
Perri as a character doesn't try to upstage the original favourites, which is something that fans hate to see from new characters. She's not arrogant, she doesn't attack anyone and she is a really open-minded and understanding person. She's also a younger member of the BAU so she's very easy, approachable and friendly.
Why the fandom hates them?
Perri covers for Elle when she finds out that her ex-girlfriend shot a possible unsub in cold blood before it was legally confirmed that he was the perpetrator of a serial rape case the BAU had been working on. Elle wasn't a very popular character on the show so the fandom wouldn't think to highly of anyone connected to her/or sympathetic to what she did. The fandom also idolizes Spencer Reid - who I am shipping her with - and that could clash badly with some of the more popular Reid ships like Reid x Morgan, Reid x JJ etc.
What the cast relationship would be like?
(I used Florence Pugh as a face claim so let's pretend that she's the around the same age range of the actors and actresses in season 2)
I think that they would all treat her like she's the kid sister of the cast. I can imagine she would literally be adopted by Kirsten Vangsness (Penelope Garcia) upon her first joining the main cast, but she would really love hanging out with Shemar Moore (Derek Morgan) and Paget Brewster (Emily Prentiss). The most interesting cast relationship would be her friendship with Aubrey Plaza (Cat Adams), considering that their characters are antagonistic.
What was their audition scene?
For her audition scene, it would be her getting psychologically evaluated by Jason Gideon. I think it would be the most revealing thing about the aspect of her character that is a profile, going face to face with a legend in the BAU and the FBI, and coming out with his approval to join the team.
Dependent upon the fandom, who would they be on a press tour/at comic con with?
Probably Kristen Vangsness (Penelope Garcia), Paget Brewster (Emily Prentiss) and Matthew Gray Gubler (Spencer Reid) because her character has the most interactions with them and shares the most screentime with them.
No, she is very tight lipped about what happens to her character and shares Perri's affinity for supply the most vaguest but most interesting answers.
If the show/movie has ended, would they be happy with their character’s ending and the ending at large?
I haven't finished the show so I am not sure what ending she would have or how she would feel about it but I know that she would want Perri to be happy and at peace with herself by the end of it all. She would want her character to let go of the pain she's suffered through and get everything she secretly wanted but as to if that is going to happen...it has yet to be determined!
