hmm avia time

avia’s staff is a carbon-based material that she creates as needed with casting matrices etched in the palms of her gloves. They are strong but not particularly malleable, with the color and texture of cast iron but a weight like carbon fiber. Their usual form is a staff 6′2″ in length and about 1″ in diameter, with each end tapering slightly across the last foot into ends 3/4″ in diameter. One of the ends is smooth, but the other is rough and jagged, due to the relative crudeness of her matrices.
She first designed the gloves at age thirteen, when she was first starting to train seriously in hand-to-hand combat. The material deflects swords and other sharp blows easily, but is vulnerable to shock and can shatter if flexed too far. However, this is not to say it is brittle; the material can easily support double her weight and fares well in combat with other blunt weapons.
As she learned theurgy she developed a way to use the same matrices to construct different shapes -- batons, flat discs she uses as shields, chains, and various constructions she uses as fortifications during combat. She refined and ultimately published her work on the subject when she was 17, and although it was derivative of earlier work (meyac and other magic-derived construction materials) her refinements were well-received and utilized throughout the Institute. She never made her inclusion of theurgy public.
so uh.... heroforge has colors now

OKay i'm gonna do this for a few different OCs because most of them take public transit LMAO
Ipetes
She used to spend a lot of time running (as she was with a warband, and Charr are strong distance runners), and she became quite the marathoner, but these days as she's working for the Order of Whispers she just sucks it up and uses the Asuran waypoints.
"I worry for my guts every time they rip me apart and put me back together, but... they're convenient. Panic-inducing but ultimately useful would describe most of the Asuran's inventions, anyway."
Ithas
Trains, mostly. The teleportation network is only available to the military, and Ithas (for most of his career) works in the private sector. Trains are convenient, cheap, and quick enough to be practical.
"They're nice. I can fetch what library materials I need through pyrography, and I can usually get a half a car for Izil and I. Oh, and there's nice views out the windows. It's nice."
Avia
Teleportation is a fickle science, but Avia manages it more or less with a thought. Her mastery over self allows her to dissolve into the ether, move quickly unseen, and reappear where she wishes -- or, if she does not wish, perceive through her web and remain hidden for upwards of an hour, though it strains her body to be transitive for so long.
"I can watch you pee."
avia is like: im insane. im a genius. i know nothing. i’m perfect. i’m the jewel of the world. everyone hates me. i’m feral. im restrained. no one can touch me. please touch me. i can’t bear it. the weight of the world must be on my shoulders. i just need help
