31 w/ monty!!

31 - “Stop it, you’re embarrassing me.”

Monty backed away from the track, wincing as a shower of dirt sprayed over his hood. Waiting until the engine noises died down before opening his eyes, he peeked around for a glimmer of red among the track, but the car had already disappeared around a turn. Reversing, Monty maneuvered his way up to a higher rise in the ground, where he could clearly see any practicing car on the low, short track that wasn’t obscured in shrubbery and shade. There, at the furthest point from him, a red bullet zipped about in the dirt. Clouds of dust billowed out behind it. Monty saw the car approaching now, skidding to a halt where he had previously been. He backed up and drove over to the red car.The scheme could be fully seen in the sun now. The car sported a cherry red, glittering livery, with twin burnt orange stripes across the hood, all the way to the bumper. Between the two orange stripes, walled by more cherry red, was a singular, thin, white stripe.“Henrie! You’re getting that scheme all dirty before she gets to see it this weekend?”“I’m not wearing it for her, Monty.” The brown-eyed racer stared harshly at his friend, who was giggling at the insulted look on Henrie’s face.“You two are going to match quite well, though.”“Oh, so maybe one of us will have to change? Stop it, you’re embarrassing me,” Henrie rolled his eyes. “We’ll see how it goes this weekend. Last week’s post-race talks got cut short.”“I remember,” Monty smiled, nay but innocence to his tone, “because she came up behind you and apparently didn’t see the rest of us-”“It didn’t mean anything!”“No? Not even that comment about your…”“I don’t have time for this,” Henrie reversed away from Monty, desperately trying to turn off the orange fog lights that had clicked on. He narrowed his eyes at the grinning car. “I’ve gotta practice.”“Mmhm. Just think about those Vibe taillights right in front of you, maybe that’ll give you the motivation to-”Monty’s teasing was cut off with a high engine roar and the billowing dust and dirt. Henrie was gone, down a slope into the dark overgrowth from a nearby woods, a horn honk caterwauling through the peaceful air.

1: What’s your OC’s biggest insecurity and how would they react if someone pointed it out to them?

HHhhhhhmm. He has quite a few but one off the top of my head is his appearance. He feels rly awkward and unusually shaped. If someone pointed it out he doesn’t likely show it outwardly but he feels p bad and doubtful for a while

3: Does your OC behave differently around different people, if so with whom and how?

he does! I think most ppl do. He’s more snappish and sarcastic with friends, vs people he looks up to he’s much more nervous n respectful. Alone w someone he trusts he tends to let down his bravado quite a lot.

5: How would your OC generally react to someone being verbally abusive towards them for no apparent reason?

It upsets him, ofc. But then I’m sure someday he realizes its how he comes off to others a lot of the time.

7: Does your OC have any irrational phobias?

HEIGHTS? heights. (not exactly irrational in itself but to the extent he is afraid of them could be.)

9: Does your OC feel a pressure to achieve or are they content and calm with doing what they can at the moment?

Def pressure to achieve. He wants to be better than his older sibling was, who had a rather rocky relationship with his parents growing up. Ironically he feels like while he was tamer and much less willing to object he also was much less successful than his sibling.

11: How would your OC react to hearing they’re adopted?

Are most Cars cars... adopted? I don’t know how... reproduction works.

13: What kind of situations does your OC avoid the most?

Painful situations. He’s rather afraid of pain. Some modifications he’s put off or written off entirely because they would be too painful in his eyes.

15: Does your OC consider themselves a good person?

eehhhhh not really.

17: Does your OC suffer from any mental health issues?

thats not really something I’ve though out yet!

19: What boosts your OC’s confidence the most?

COMPLIMENTS... please reassure him

21: Does your OC hurt others often intentionally? If yes, how?

Maybe not totally intentionally but sometimes he comes off as pretty rude. He’s a bit of a sore winner sometimes, if that counts.

23: Does your OC tend to hide something about their personality/essence when meeting new people? If yes, what?

Hmm... He puts up a lot more of a braver, “edgier” front than he really is. He’s actuall y pretty nervous and sensitive.

25: How would your OC process the grief caused by the death of a loved one?

Closes himself off. He doesn’t want others seeing him in that state of grief and perceived lowliness, even if he terribly needs someone’s support.

27: Does your OC practice any kind of escapism? If yes, what kind?

Rallying is def how he blows off steam! It lets him feel like he’s releasing all his anxiety and just, focusing on this one thing.

29: How does your OC behave on the face of a conflict?

Uuhhh. He tries to act brave and cool about it but he tends to get snappish and frightened quickly. Hates conflict and others getting upset with each other.

I ended up givin Henrie's personality a major overhaul.... like. He's almost a completely different character now. (Also thinkin of maybe just having his original name be Henrie vs that being. Nickname)
