@sindarweek day three | women | wives of sindarin princes
Nimloth and Eweniel were twin sisters in the land of Doriath, where they both wed princes of the Sindar. Eweniel married Oropher, a counselor to the royal family, and bore him a son, Thranduil; in later years, Nimloth married Dior Eluchíl, the King’s Heir, and gave him three children: Eluréd, Elurín, and Elwing. Both sisters were boisterous by nature, and befriended a third lady of Doriath’s court, shy Malweth the wife of Amdír, one of Oropher’s colleagues, and mother of his son Amroth. In the happy days of King Dior’s reign the three women could be seen laughing, singing, and working together; but all of them would perish in Doriath’s ruin, Nimloth at Dior’s side while Eweniel and Malweth left their husbands widowed. Their loss brought Oropher and Amdír closer together as friends and companions, and when a new Age dawned, the two Sindarin lords would lead many of their people east to find new homes like unto Doriath in its prime, when ladies danced beneath the boughs of ancient trees.
