HYEONJIN + ALL GOTTA STAN THE ISFP
realm knows my weak spot !!! hyeonjin is my baby boy, my sun, my stars and i will rant about him forever —
QUESTIONS FOR YOUR OCs
What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?
probably years. he’s good at observing his surroundings and also slipping into quiet existential thoughts so you could probably forget him in a store and come back two hours later to him staring blankly at a mannequin.
How easy is it for your character to laugh?
maybe a 7 on the scale of 1 to 10. he’s trained to not be too rambunctious when he laughs, but giggles and chuckles are easy to get out of him.
How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)
is there something fundamentally wrong with my ocs if the two that have been asked about both need drugs. i hate. hyeonjin takes an anti-epilepsy drug that he’s addicted to to deal with anxiety attacks. the time of contemplation before sleeping is prime time for intrusive thoughts. so he has to take a dose.
How easy is it to earn their trust?
easier than a normal person. it comes to a point in his life that anyone who’s even remotely nice to him is considered a friend, and anyone who does him favours is deemed trustworthy. he’s a sensitive kid.
How easy is it to earn their mistrust?
hyeonjin is as quick to cut people off as he is to take them in. even the smallest act of betrayal will lead to hyeonjin ignoring you for the rest of your life. he’s hyper guarded and hyper open at the same time, it’s hard to explain.
Do they consider laws flexible, or immovable?
laws are very flexible in his opinion. the law is usually made by people who are somewhat out of touch with reality. if a law doesn’t help people, or serve any other benevolent purpose, it’s not worth following.
What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?
nostalgia isn’t very easy to trigger for him. his childhood was full of love and affection but also without any very clearly unique incidents. it felt like a movie character’s childhood. disneyland, trips to the beach, school days. nothing very standout. meeting his mother alone would be enough to make him remember the old days ( his parents are divorced btw ) but then it becomes a very, very painful feeling.
What were they told to stop/start doing most often as a child?
oh god, what wasn’t he told to stop/start doing. being a child actor for a short while, and then constantly in the public eye because his father is a well-known and politically involved businessman and his best friend is instagram-famous — he always had to be conscious of whether he was slouching, how eloquently he spoke, being careful not to look disinterested and so on. so his childhood was pretty regimented.
Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word?
he tries not to, to be polite, but the habit is steadily growing on him. his first swear word was probably said when he was fourteen or something and even then it was probably something pretty inoffensive like 제기랄 ( equivalent of bullshit ).
What lie do they most frequently remember telling? Does it haunt them?
oh. well, he’s been hiding a drug habit from his father since forever. it makes him feel really, really guilty, but he tries to justify it to himself by saying that the calmness that the drug gives him actually helps him fulfill his father’s expectations better. it’s still a weight on his psyche and he hates himself more for it.
How do they cope with confusion (seek clarification, pretend they understand, etc)?
unfortunately, hyeonjin will only seek clarification if the person is close to them. otherwise that kind of admission of ignorance … yikes emoji.
How do they deal with an itch found in a place they can’t quite reach?
suffer.
What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color?
he doesn’t really know anything about fashion, and depends almost entirely on a team of stylists, his housekeeper and his best friend to dress. so he doesn’t really know what he looks best in. outsiders will have you know that he looks best in red.
What animal do they fear most?
hyeonjin is not a fan of snakes, which begs the question: how did he become one later ?
How do they speak? Is what they say usually thought of on the spot, or do they rehearse it in their mind first?
if talking to heather ( a friend :) ), jiwon ( his best friend ) or sungmi ( his housekeeper / older sister figure ), he won’t think at all before talking. otherwise, he’s rehearsing every goddamn syllable in his head like three times.
What makes their stomach turn?
blood. mostly blood. people yelling at him. the thought of the people he loves being unhappy. people relying on him. being some kind of hero.
Are they easily embarrassed?
yes. thankfully, the people closest to him have learned to veer around his insecurities.
What embarrasses them?
positive reinforcement. praise, compliments, telling him to get out of his head and be happier, anything that makes him feel a little less dead inside makes him all blush emoji and flustered.
What is their favorite number?
5. it’s a nice, pleasant, round number.
If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so?
familial love in his opinion is a much more jaded kind of platonic love: “i love you but you exhaust me — and there’s this quiet understanding that we’ll have to come apart.” platonic love is purer, teetering on the edge of irrationality but not there yet, a little restrained, never complete. and romantic love is complete. everything the person does is beautiful, nto categorised into good or bad. they become a part of you.
Why do they get up in the morning?
he’d rather not. but people love him. and (later on) people need him.
How does jealousy manifest itself in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)?
positive emotions manifest with more intensity in hyeonjin and so do negative emotions. it takes a bit to get him jealous but once he is, he can become pretty toxic and petty towards the person encroaching. this is almost entirely about his crush, though. he has nothing else to be jealous about.
How does envy manifest itself in them (they take what they want, they become resentful, etc)?
envious hyeonjin means a very repressed hyeonjin who will avoid the source of envy to the maximum possible extent and become distant.
Is sex something that they’re comfortable speaking about? To whom?
noooo. he was raised in a pretty conservative setting. sex and sex appeal makes him flustered to talk about. the most he’ll do is entertain jiwon’s rants about people finding him sexy, and even that with a bit of internal cringing.
What are their thoughts on marriage?
hyeonjin in a michael scott vc: marriage sounds nice. would love to be loved someday. jskjds but in all serious the idea of marriage is so lovely he’d love to be married but who’d marry him haha
What is their preferred mode of transportation?
limousine. sorry. he’s rich, and it’s comfortable.
What causes them to feel dread?
oh, loads of things. on especially shitty days, talking to any people. public speaking, being put on the spot, being on camera. anything that requires him to actually be active and do something. depression is a bitch, huh.
Would they prefer a lie over an unpleasant truth?
depends on the context. if the unpleasant truth was unlikely to be uncovered later, then fine. if someone lives and dies with a lie, it didn’t hurt them, and it was fine.
Do they usually live up to their own ideals?
never. his ideals are too much for even the finest human being to comprehend. he wants to be the best possible son, friend, leader, actor, motivator, businessman and student. but obviously, it’s never going to happen. and anything less than success is failure.
Who do they most regret meeting?
no one. whomever he’s met have changed him into a version of himself perhaps more wounded, angry, cold, but it’s been for the better. he’s braver now as well.
Who are they the most glad to have met?
jiwon. it has to be jiwon. at least 50% of the reason why hyeonjin still stands is because of his best friend, who never fails to make him happy, just because he’s so sanguine, kind, optimistic, and encouraging. everything he himself should be.
Do they have a go-to story in conversation? Or a joke?
no, because all of his stories are either unrelatable ( oh lads do you ever get annoyed when the driver stocks coke in the limo when you asked for sprite ) or depressing ( yah so i killed a man that one time ).
Could they be considered lazy?
i wouldn’t use lazy because hyeonjin has a mental health condition that forces him into passivity. but he does have difficulty putting himself out there.
How hard is it for them to shake a sense of guilt?
im-fucking-possible. lmao hyeonjin’s got guilt at the back of his mind every second of every day about something or the other. drinking, taking his pills, lying, not being a good friend. but at the same time he’s just so tired of it that he feels nothing very strongly.
How do they treat the things their friends come to them excited about? Are they supportive?
always ! he hates to let people know he’s having a hard time ever so it’s a good distraction to fall into what someone else is talking about and support them all the way. having others be happy around him calms him down to some extent too.
Do they actively seek romance, or do they wait for it to fall into their lap?
hyeonjin loves the idea of love so much. all he wants is a nice relationship, and he’d be a fantastic boyfriend. however, shyness is a thing, and he hasn’t had the courage to approach his crushes. except jiwon; he did have the courage to confess to him, but that had it’s own strings attached.
Do they have a system for remembering names, long lists of numbers, things that need to go in a certain order (like anagrams, putting things to melodies, etc)?
nothing in particular, no ! but as a sidenote hyeonjin has a fairly decent memory.
What memory do they revisit the most often?
a trip to los angeles when he was thirteen with the chois aka jiwon’s family. jiwon’s elder sister jiyoon took them around disneyland for the whole day, he almost puked on the rollercoaster, saw fireworks — it was a moment of nothing but pure elation.
How easy is it for them to ignore flaws in other people?
oh, if they consider someone a good friend ? what are flaws. no flaws. nothing but good things. happiness. the best.
How sensitive are they to their own flaws?
meanwhile, he himself has a million flaws. he picks at his demeanour and behaviour whenever in the public eye because for the longest time, his father did it for him. he thinks he’s a bit cowardly, not macho male. long story short, he’s pretty sensitive to his own flaws, but if someone points them out he won’t be offended. he’ll just be sad, because it’s true.
How do they feel about children?
being a naturally sensitive person, he has a strong maternal instinct towards children, especially younger ones. in practical terms, he may not be fantastic at caring for them, because he doesn’t really know how, but the non-judgemental nature of kids brings his walls down. he loves kids. he wants kids.
How badly do they want to reach their end goal?
so badly. so basically his end goal is for the violent organisation that wants to destroy capitalist society to successfully establish itself in the western world again, after a hiatus of nearly fifty years. and this end has to be met. otherwise, his life, throwing everything away — would’ve had no purpose.
If someone asked them to explain their sexuality, how would they do so?
beautiful, good, and happy people. just, people with a soothing, carefree aura. male, female, nonbinary, anybody, hyeonjin’ll hook onto you immediately.
QUESTIONS FOR CREATORS
A) Why are you excited about this character?
he’s my boy !! when it comes to empathy and sincere kindness, he’s probably the kindest oc i have, at least in this au. also he goes through major char dev to become a lot more harsh, cruel and antagonist-like ( because he is an antagonist, for erich at least ), but he still wants to do the right thing above all.
B) What inspired you to create them?
ehhhhhh ok so the outside vibe of hyeonjin ( sad rich kid ) was a super old idea i had for the story, but the personality of this kid was totally different. then i transplanted the personality of an older oc into this exterior and boom it’s hyeonjin.
C) Did you have trouble figuring out where they fit in their own story?
initially, yes, because his story takes place primarily in korea and i had difficulty relating it back to the main action which was supposed to happen in london. but with some tweaks to his backstory ( he studied in the uk ) and lore, i think i’ve made it work.
D) Have they always had the same physical appearance, or have you had to edit how they look?
not too much. the prototype sad rich kid was just a knockoff of artemis fowl, aka much younger and much less of a sweetheart. now hyeonjin’s 20 in the plot.
E) Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you?
i think so ! but their tendency of shoving trauma into a closet instead of dealing with it or seeking help could be potential damage to any relationships ( and it is. stay tuned :) )
F) What do you feel when you think of your OC (pride, excitement, frustration, etc)?
i just feel sorry for him sjdsjdsjf bb you’ve got a long, long way to go — he’s def one of the more unhappy ocs i have.
G) What trait of theirs bothers you the most?
a tendency to be a little sanctimonious. i am pure and i am virtuous and i must do the right thing. he’s a bit self-righteous which gets annoying when writing but that’s more because i’m a cynical person.
H) What trait do you admire most?
he’s a good kid. he’s supportive, understanding, polite, genuinely respectful and isn’t really ever petty or vitriolic. a pure boy. baby boy.
I) Do you prefer to keep them in their canon universe?
yes, because i’m not creative.
J) Did you have to manipulate or exclude canon factors to allow them to create their character?
mostly family stuff had to be changed to make his home life a little more poisonous. sort of an odd thing to mention, but initially hyeonjin lived with his mother ( who was the businesswoman parent ) while his father was the deadbeat divorcee. but i wanted to talk about how mothers can sometimes get fucked over in divorces, so i swapped them.
Jiwon (the only enfp I will stan 👀) + all
you just want me dead. also if anyone is interested first thank u sm i love u ur my new best friend. and secondly here’s the pinterest with all my babes discussed so far on it !! brunner is erich, kim is hyeonjin and choi is jiwon.
QUESTIONS FOR YOUR OCs
What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?
like three seconds ? jiwon has the attention span of a goldfish and must be constantly entertained otherwise he’ll die
How easy is it for your character to laugh?
so, so, so easy ! my boy is a ray of sunshine. he’s laughing at his own goddamn joke before he even tells it.
How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)
listen ? whale songs and all that cutesy stuff ? for losers. if you’re a real alpha you surf youtube for eight hours till your eyes straight up don’t work anymore.
How easy is it to earn their trust?
surprisingly difficult. jiwon has a big circle of acquaintances that he’ll do a lot of things for but if you want to know the man’s deepest darkest insecurities you won’t get them very easily. he has only four or so friends that he would trust that shit to.
How easy is it to earn their mistrust?
again, not very easy. jiwon is not very good at cutting people out, and he tends to keep giving people second chances to sully his trust again and again. save this fool.
Do they consider laws flexible, or immovable?
laws are generally there for a reason, and jiwon respects most of them. and the fact that they exist makes it all the more fun for him to try and break some of the lesser ones like speeding laws. on a scale of 0 meaning inflexible to 10 meaning ‘a light suggestion’, jiwon considers laws to be a 6.
What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?
meeting younger people and generally being in environments previously visited may sometimes trigger a feeling of nostalgia in him. but this isn’t very frequent. he’s always thinking about the new, not the old. the rare times he does experience nostalgia, he can get kind of mournful about it — where did the good old days go.
What were they told to stop/start doing most often as a child?
child jiwon was louder and more confrontational than adult jiwon. one story i am absolutely convinced happened was that he was painting in the first grade when the teacher came up to him, looked at his work and said ‘it’s wonderful but don’t you think it needs more colour?’ so my man jc dipped his fingers in paint and held her cheeks saying ‘you need more colour!’ so, yeah, he definitely was told to be nicer and more respectful.
Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word?
jiwon swears without abandon, but doesn’t have a natural inclination towards especially vulgar words. his first swear word was probably 년 ( equivalent of bitch ). likely directed at his sister.
What lie do they most frequently remember telling? Does it haunt them?
jiwon’s parents and sister are pretty liberal, and he’s managed to get his way without offending them too much. he’s only ever frequently lied to teachers about work and skipping classes, and occasionally to the house warden about why his window was open, and why so many stones were thrown at the finley hall down the street. no, it absolutely doesn’t haunt him; it’s too insignificant.
How do they cope with confusion (seek clarification, pretend they understand, etc)?
ask. ask like sixty questions. sometimes he’ll play devil’s advocate and poke holes in people’s knowledge. just as a test, you know.
How do they deal with an itch found in a place they can’t quite reach?
you know how baloo in the jungle book rubs against a tree when his back itches. yeah. he tries to make it look natural.
What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color?
i mean, jiwon’s face and body ensures that he looks good in any colour. and he also believes he looks good in any colour.
What animal do they fear most?
listen. jiwon doesn’t trust horses. back when he was 14 or so, he wanted to learn to ride and for some reason the horses didn’t take to his absolutely irresistible charm. the one called johnny knocked him off after less than ten seconds. other than that he’s also not a fan of rats and crows.
How do they speak? Is what they say usually thought of on the spot, or do they rehearse it in their mind first?
jiwon speaks with ease, he’s fluent in the language of flattery and charm. he hates to put too much thought it what he says, and can end up mumbling a lot if he’s distracted.
What makes their stomach turn?
the idea that one day he’ll have to start wearing suits and talking to shareholders and live a normal, boring working life. oh, and rollercoasters and oysters.
Are they easily embarrassed?
jiwon is near impossible to embarass. his confidence in himself mixed with a natural talent at shrugging what may even be serious things off as jokes enables him to take everything in his stride. compliment him ? he’s flattered. insult him ? he’s unbothered. upload a picture of him spongebob underpants on twitter ? he’ll retweet with 😍.
What embarrasses them?
the only thing that might embarass him to any degree is being reprimanded in public. he has an image as a good boy gone bad with a heart of gold that’s he’s cultivated in the years he’s been on social media. so interrupting that with a lecture about responsibility in public ? no thanks.
What is their favorite number?
10. a perfect score, his birthday, just a nice number.
If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so?
jiwon doesn’t think about this much, but he doesn’t make a big difference between platonic and familial love. his best friends are family, and his sister is his best, best friend. he figures that romantic love and sexual attraction are correlated (which of course isn’t really true but). aka, if you wouldn’t mind banging them, you’re probably in romantic love.
Why do they get up in the morning?
to upload a good morning ‘woke up like this’ selfie, duh. nah but on a more serious note — because each day is a day that he’s gonna have fun, right ? wrong.
How does jealousy manifest itself in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)?
jealous jiwon is … messy. the last time jiwon got jealous was about his girlfriend in high school, and he made it a point to act extremely romantic and charming whenever rivals for her affection were around. that, and he was remarkably cruel with anyone he considered so. if he was ignored, he’d get mopey.
How does envy manifest itself in them (they take what they want, they become resentful, etc)?
jiwon doesn’t feel envy one goddamn bit. life is so good, other people envy him. be a better bitch not a bitter bitch, is his motto. of course, it’s easier to be better when you’re the one with a hundred million wons to your name.
Is sex something that they’re comfortable speaking about? To whom?
again, liberal family. jiwon has no trouble talking about sex. with his friend vicki from school, with hyeonjin (although he’d rather not hear), with anyone but family (for obvious reasons). he gets annoyed about the conservatism of society on the topic, especially among the elder generation.
What are their thoughts on marriage?
marriage is — okay. he still feels way too young to be even thinking about marrying, but he’s not averse to the idea.
What is their preferred mode of transportation?
jiwon’s very glad you asked. in the spring of his 19th year, god aka his father got him a ducati panigale bike to celebrate his graduation. that baby is his goddamn pride and joy, and he zooms everywhere he can on it. the only problem is that it’s constantly on and off — every time his mother hears of a new motorcycle accident she forbids its use.
What causes them to feel dread?
the future in general. realising that he’s going to have to buckle down after college. also, i don’t know about you, but have you noticed that hyeonjin’s acting really weird lately ? like, he barely talks on the phone anymore, looks exhausted, goes out to strange places at night. weird. hope he’s okay.
Would they prefer a lie over an unpleasant truth?
jiwon doesn’t like being lied to, period. hypocrite that he is, he has no trouble telling white lies to cover his ass. but, telling a lie to cover something unpleasant — he’d rather not. it’s him who’s going to deal with consequences if the truth comes out.
Do they usually live up to their own ideals?
well, his ideal, so to speak, would be a legendary actor/musician with millions of adoring fans around the world. so no, he hasn’t really gotten to that point yet but he’s getting there, chill.
Who do they most regret meeting?
well, nobody. #noregrets. actually no there was this one bitch in 9th grade who used to keep calling him oppa even when he told her to quit —
Who are they the most glad to have met?
hyeonjin. best friends since they were like seven. haven’t ever had a major argument. plenty of minor ones, but what do you do. vicki, a closeted lesbian pal for whom jiwon was a beard for a couple of months. she’s amazing.
Do they have a go-to story in conversation? Or a joke?
at least six hundred. there was the time that he crashed his bike at his country club. another time that he almost died while on a glass bridge in the mountains in china. oh, how about that time that he was almost scouted for uh…. adult movies ? not exactly the talent range he was intending to go for.
Could they be considered lazy?
if jiwon doesn’t want to do something, he won’t. and that’s the tea. he’ll get it done through a third party, or just let it die until he finishes it in a 2 am red bull panic.
How hard is it for them to shake a sense of guilt?
obviously depends on the severity of the event, but in general — jiwon’s pretty good at moving on from things. he’s especially good at changing subject and throwing himself into something new, forgetting the past entirely.
How do they treat the things their friends come to them excited about? Are they supportive?
ehhhhh a catch here. if you’re close to him, yes, he will try to be excited for you. but you can’t really force him to be excited about anything. if you start talking about how absolutely mindblowing axolotls are, he’ll nod and zone out.
Do they actively seek romance, or do they wait for it to fall into their lap?
seek out. life’s too short for anything else.
Do they have a system for remembering names, long lists of numbers, things that need to go in a certain order (like anagrams, putting things to melodies, etc)?
my man makes little jingles about everything. it’s honestly pretty annoying at this point. his magnum opus would have to be the english conjugation table rap. it was popular at his old school for months.
What memory do they revisit the most often?
memories are kind of fuzzy with him, he doesn’t remember the details of places as much as he does the feeling of them. some select memories are of dance nights at ketterbridge ( his english boarding school ) and holidays in jeju, kyoto, bangkok and hawaii. what can i say, he’s a big fan of beaches.
How easy is it for them to ignore flaws in other people?
fairly easy. unless he’s being especially catty, which he certainly can be, people’s flaws don’t matter to him. he’ll make up for them. and if they share flaws ? too bad. the world will have to deal.
How sensitive are they to their own flaws?
not much, no. i’d say his biggest flaw is detachment from reality and his sheltered lifestyle. he doesn’t know how to do anything on his own. if he was abandoned somewhere (not even like a deserted island, i’m talking apartment in seoul) he’d die. but because it’s unlikely he’ll ever have to be alone ( devil emoji at least that’s what he thinks ) he doesn’t really care about his own flaws.
How do they feel about children?
on surface level, jiwon looks amazing with kids. they’re funny, he’s funny, they’re reckless and silly, he’s reckless and silly. but jiwon would be an awful, awful father, and he knows it. handling a kid is too much work, he doesn’t like hanging with them, because it’s like hanging with slightly less capable clones.
How badly do they want to reach their end goal?
here’s the thing. his end goal is to become a legendary actor/musician. the path he chooses to follow to get there is still really unclear in his head — he has an impression that it’ll just happen.
If someone asked them to explain their sexuality, how would they do so?
jiwon would just say he likes cute girls, and because all girls are cute, he likes all girls. i envision him as bisexual with a ginormous preference for women. he definitely express attraction to men, but brushes it off as bro stuff. basically, when hyeonjin confesses to him later in the plot, he’s going to be pretty confused emoji. like … he’s straight … but he would maybe date hyeonjin ? he doesn’t mind the idea ? what
QUESTIONS FOR CREATORS
A) Why are you excited about this character?
he’s a dumbass !!! also his attitude makes him so much fun to write. constant quips and jokes and not taking anything seriously. also, karma is gonna get him very soon for that sheltered, pampered life he’s been living :)
B) What inspired you to create them?
uhhh nothing tbh ? i needed a lighthearted foil in hyeonjin’s story, that’s really it, and he evolved over time to be this monstrosity.
C) Did you have trouble figuring out where they fit in their own story?
not for the first little arc. but after that, absolutely idk what’s gonna happen to my son.
D) Have they always had the same physical appearance, or have you had to edit how they look?
actually, jiwon was supposed to be relegated to the position of minor character in hyeonjin’s story, and was never part of the eight mcs of this particular idea. later, after i dropped one of the characters because she was getting a bit controversial, i plopped him in. so his physical appearance was only properly defined once he became an mc. and it hasn’t changed since.
E) Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you?
i’d be filled with immense intrigue and admiration and also deep hatred. like he’s a goddamn idiot but i know i’d love his silly sense of humour and his attitude.
F) What do you feel when you think of your OC (pride, excitement, frustration, etc)?
just — happiness tbh ? i lov him. he’s my son.
G) What trait of theirs bothers you the most?
that he doesn’t NOTICE ANYTHING. ffs jiwon TAKE INTEREST in your surroundings and maybe then you’d realise that your friend is STRUGGLING WITH ADDICTION AND BEING INVOLVED IN ORGANISED CRIME.
H) What trait do you admire most?
he’s just. impossible to insult. that kind of self esteem. where can i buy it. how much is it. is there a warranty
I) Do you prefer to keep them in their canon universe?
yes. although he’d fit in awfully well anywhere tbh.
J) Did you have to manipulate or exclude canon factors to allow them to create their character?
yes, sort of. again, it was mostly related to fleshing out his history, getting a better idea of his family dynamics and so forth.
Kisha + ykw questions 👀
why is this a daily routine. when will the government stop your sinful hands from sending me these ksksksksksksk
QUESTIONS FOR YOUR OCs
What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?
fairly long, maybe even forty-five minutes. she’s a meditative person who can probably keep herself entertained trying to recall things like song lyrics.
How easy is it for your character to laugh?
kisha has almost never laughed out loud in a solid holler more than twice in her life. But getting a chuckle out of her isn’t that hard. surprisingly, short zingers, puns and slapstick are what truly get her.
How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?)
reading the medical journals that she should be reading for work. But those things can knock you out so goddamn quick, it’s amazing. either that, or rambling in her journals about nothing in particular.
How easy is it to earn their trust?
difficult. kisha is a private person who absolutely hates confiding in others. moreover, because she’s so professional and detached by nature, she doesn’t speak to others much about herself. therefore, to hear her deepest thoughts and secrets is really a privilege.
How easy is it to earn their mistrust?
easy. do one thing that she doesn’t expect from you and her trust in you is gone forever, and you are wiped out from her psyche. good thing is that she may entertain an explanation, but you’ll have to be ready with a good excuse.
Do they consider laws flexible, or immovable?
hey, she wants a carefree, healthy life without getting into trouble from the police. besides, laws are absolutely necessary to keep order. if you don’t like law, good, you likely live in a democracy, and can protest in a healthy manner. otherwise, don’t break the law unless you’re fine with everyone breaking the law.
What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?
everything to do with family. media remotely related to siblings will make her miss her own baby sister. a lot of things make her miss the days when she didn’t have to do taxes by herself. also, shitty fast food triggers memory of home cooking. nostalgia is not a good feeling. it makes her mournful and mopey.
What were they told to stop/start doing most often as a child?
child kisha was very shy, but also vaguely a prick. she had to be told consistently to be a little more outgoing and involved in school activities. she didn’t really take to sing-alongs and clay-modelling. also, for a long time, she had a mildly snobbish attitude, and didn’t make friends easily. just had to be softened around the edges a bit, be a little more considerate and flexible and enthusiastic.
Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word?
well, back at home, she never did. now, in london, the habit is sort of growing on her. her first swear word was probably something along the lines of shit, and it probably made her super guilty when she did say it.
What lie do they most frequently remember telling? Does it haunt them?
kisha doesn’t lie. she doesn’t like to. but in her line of work, she’s also relatively inexperienced with delivering hard truths to her patients (she’s a physical therapist). the worst lie she’s ever told in that context was to an old patient of hers, who was terrified of surgery, insisting that she wouldn’t need it. the comfort slipped out of her without much meaning. the patient got better, yes, but she feels terrible about it regardless.
How do they cope with confusion (seek clarification, pretend they understand, etc)?
she has no pride about asking. especially given that even the slightest gap in her knowledge leads to her having immense anxiety.
How do they deal with an itch found in a place they can’t quite reach?
suffer. run to the nearest bathroom as soon as she can to get at it with some kind of string of toiler paper.
What colour do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that colour?
kisha likes to keep it simple and elegant, so she wears a lot of white and beige, without getting too wild with it. it’s a shame, because she looks really good in blues and greens.
What animal do they fear most?
kisha fucking hates anything that flies. birds, bats, insects, you goddamn name it. just, doesn’t trust anything that flies.
How do they speak? Is what they say usually thought of on the spot, or do they rehearse it in their mind first?
you bet that she will repeat a sentence in her head three times before she actually says it because she’s that scared of looking silly or incompetent. her style of speech is usually curt, eloquent, and to the point, without a lot of metaphor.
What makes their stomach turn?
the idea that she’s going nowhere. that her career doesn’t really contribute anything meaningful to people’s lives other than the fact that she’s helping just one or two individuals. in her, there’s a selfish desire to do something remarkable, give herself some purpose. Right now, she feels a little lost, losing her life in-between each workweek.
Are they easily embarrassed?
by others? no. but if she does something herself that’s in any way even slightly a little awkward she’s going to shrivel up and die inside.
What embarrasses them?
making mistakes, mostly. making factual inaccuracies. being put on the spot and interviewed about her personal life. talking about herself in general, to be quite honest. she doesn’t have a very clear picture of the kind of person she is. she cries if she has to submit statements of purpose to anywhere.
What is their favorite number?
maybe — 12? a pleasant enough number. It’s a multiple of one, two, three and four. Very aesthetic.
If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so?
oof, you’re not asking the best candidate to answer. kisha would state that platonic love is more or less omnipresent in all positive relationships. platonic love for blood relations is the same as familial love, and romantic love means a best friend that you’re willing to marry and kiss and do all that sort of romantic stuff with. thinking about this would give her a headache.
Why do they get up in the morning?
bills don’t pay themselves. and, you know, the chance to help people yada yada yada. but the bills first. god, rent is expensive.
How does jealousy manifest itself in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)?
kisha has the capacity to be remarkably cold and controlling if she needs to be. she can be immensely vitriolic. if she’s jealous, which, incidentally, isn’t a very common phenomenon, she will become hypersensitive to the actions of people around her and majorly possessive of the object of affection, and become aggressive.
How does envy manifest itself in them (they take what they want, they become resentful, etc)?
she takes a completely different approach to envy. genuine envy just makes her upset and causes her to have 11pm existential crises with silent and soft tears streaming down her cheeks about how there’s so much that she wants and will never have, like a stable, anxiety free life.
Is sex something that they’re comfortable speaking about? To whom?
she’s pretty meh about sex, to be honest. she isn’t especially prudish but also not especially liberal on the subject. if she can be said to have any opinion at all, she thinks sex is a little overhyped in media.
What are their thoughts on marriage?
marriage is cool, but would be massively inconvenient given her current financial situation. so no thanks. besides, ya girl is way too busy to even date (trust me, she’s tried) so there’s no way wedding bells are ringing anytime soon.
What is their preferred mode of transportation?
bus. there’s a bus stop right outside her apartment block, aka god is real, and it’s a convenient way of getting most places — without being too packed with people on weekday mornings. as long as she starts early, she usually gets to work on time.
What causes them to feel dread?
the idea that she’s not really getting anywhere. the poor girl is stuck in a 24/7 existential crisis please save her. just, she wants so much more meaning from her life, but she isn’t able to really implement anything to change her life. she’s been stuck in a crap apartment for almost all of her adult life with no significant opportunities coming her way.
Would they prefer a lie over an unpleasant truth?
absolutely not. dealing with the truth is critical to growing up. so she’d like to give it as it is in theory. in practice she may just buckle once or twice, but she dislikes lying greatly, and isn’t even a good liar.
Do they usually live up to their own ideals?
hahahahahaha. not really. kisha isn’t even sure of what her ideal is, to be honest, she just knows that she’s got a pretty long way to go to get there. this existence of bill to bill doesn’t cut it.
Who do they most regret meeting?
lowkey? her roommate, melanie. if she didn’t contribute half of the rent, kisha would’ve booted her out three years ago. she’s almost never home at night, doesn’t help in cleaning up and/or cooking, and fawns over her boyfriend all the time. of course, her leaving would cause more problems than her staying, but what do you do. good thing she leaves later in the plot :) she also lowkey regrets meeting erich because let’s be honest she could have had better things to do than ward off an organised crime unit.
Who are they the most glad to have met?
jamie. at first, she was the biggest thorn in kisha’s side, just showing up at her workplace one fine day and asking for mentorship. kisha had agreed pretty much instantly, out of general social pressures, but truly wanted her to leave in a week. soon, jamie became important to her — a massive help in warding off social anxiety and general dread.
Do they have a go-to story in conversation? Or a joke?
she has stories about her old school because it was lowkey pretty wild with its traditions and stuff, but she never really participated in them as much. it doesn’t diminish the value of the stories in any way.
Could they be considered lazy?
never. no. if she isn’t doing something meaningful one every six hours she’d die of boredom and nervousness.
How hard is it for them to shake a sense of guilt?
impossible. kisha is probably the most moral character I have, she’s really committed to doing what she believes is the right thing, and doesn’t believe that the end justifies the means. therefore, anything she does that conflicts with her moral compass will make her guilty for a super duper long time.
How do they treat the things their friends come to them excited about? Are they supportive?
yes, if she’s genuinely excited. fake it if she’s not, which she’s good at. the trouble is that she’s also relatively quick to see problems in people’s plans and ideas — but she wouldn’t dare say them out loud; it’s just gonna fester in her head for the rest of eternity. on the surface, she’ll support them, and if it backfires later she will stay mournful and silent.
Do they actively seek romance, or do they wait for it to fall into their lap?
listen, a part of kisha is hoping so goddamn hard for a nice meet-cute on the subway or at work and everything to just fall into place and happen. then she can be happily married and in a stable job. but actually talking to cute people ?? skull emoji.
Do they have a system for remembering names, long lists of numbers, things that need to go in a certain order (like anagrams, putting things to melodies, etc)?
she just makes notes on her phone. it’s the twenty-first century, bud.
What memory do they revisit the most often?
christmas time memories, always. chelmsford would always be absolutely lit up, and there would be carollers, snow, her sister would be home, she’d be home, they’d have a great dinner, she’d get her sister all the presents she wanted from london. every year it gets better and better. she also has memories of certain patients that were really lovely.
How easy is it for them to ignore flaws in other people?
difficult. she can find flaws in anything and everything. but she is level-headed enough (most of the time) to acknowledge a person as someone despite their flaws. someone valuable to her. however, when these glaring flaws come into play in interaction, she will take note of them.
How sensitive are they to their own flaws?
oh, she thinks she’s super flawed. she’s not bold enough, risk-taking enough, charming enough, warm enough, fun enough, loving enough, smart enough. and she’s especially sensitive about these flaws if pointed out. her poor ass tries so hard to be unemotional but to be honest she’ll cry at the tip of a hat if you say the right thing.
How do they feel about children?
overrated germ sacks. there, she said it. dealing with kids gives her a plain old headache, and while she’d never ever hurt a child or even do anything to them that’s not an expression of care — she just doesn’t like kids that much. even her own baby sister really took a lot out of her.
How badly do they want to reach their end goal?
what is a goal. what is reaching. is anything real. i mean okay to be real she would not risk her stability and health to pursue her goals, which is probably why she hasn’t achieved very many of them at all.
If someone asked them to explain their sexuality, how would they do so?
she’d just say she’s straight. aside from the fact that she’s never had a crush in her life.
QUESTIONS FOR CREATORS
A) Why are you excited about this character?
she provides a kind of one sane man archetype to the rest of the plot, so in that way her dynamic in the larger setting is going to be fun. also, she has major chardev ahead of her.
B) What inspired you to create them?
well, the need for a one sane man. also erich needed a therapist. no particular reason, i just wanted to write a determined, hardworking professional type of woman.
C) Did you have trouble figuring out where they fit in their own story?
nope, she fits in rather smoothly. i love her ; she’s my least problematic oc.
D) Have they always had the same physical appearance, or have you had to edit how they look?
i think she might be the only oc who’s appearance hasn’t changed much at all. she was a little shorter when she started i think, now she’s the tallest of all my ocs in this story.
E) Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you?
we’d be very good friends. in my opinion, she’s a pretty darn valid person to have on your side. smart, caring to a degree without being too emotional. just, a cutie.
F) What do you feel when you think of your OC (pride, excitement, frustration, etc)?
pride. she’s gonna do such amazing things in her life, and in the story. god bless.
G) What trait of theirs bothers you the most?
she’s so self-doubting and passive for the first half or so of the story. it’s her character so i can’t really fault her for not having a bigger role in the first bit but uggh she’s got potential she just runs away from anything risky.
H) What trait do you admire most?
she’s the reasonable one. the person that sees through almost all of the bullshit and mind games the protags play with each other. the people on her team would be straight up be dead if not for her. also she’s just a cutie please.
I) Do you prefer to keep them in their canon universe?
you know what i’m gonna say.
J) Did you have to manipulate or exclude canon factors to allow them to create their character?
mostly related to the roommate. her roommate sort of shapes her initial dislike for jamie in a way too. also i had to switch up a coupla timelines to make her story possible.
erich + ALL (too bad suffer w me)
stares into camera like i’m in the office. thanks realm. i lov having friends on the internets. i’m still figuring out erich’s character bc he was ( and likely still is ) a little bland but what’s under the cut is long so enjoy djhsjhfs
QUESTIONS FOR YOUR OCS
What’s the maximum amount of time your character can sit still with nothing to do?
about half an hour at best, to be honest. and he’s the most patient person in his family.
How easy is it for your character to laugh?
not easy, not at all. erich isn’t no-nonsense, he just doesn’t have a tendency to open his mouth and laugh. sharp exhales and repressed smirks all around.
How do they put themselves to bed at night (reading, singing, thinking?
sleeping pills. due to a couple of past incidents, erich has a crippling discomfort in the dark. and he’s also not rich enough to keep the lights on all night. about 1/3 of the time, he doesn’t need artificial medication, but sometimes he does.
How easy is it to earn their trust?
full and complete ‘i’d die for you and i know you’d die for me’ trust ? near impossible ! erich’s trusted like five people in his life, one of which went missing, two of which were separated from him and the other two that betrayed him.
How easy is it to earn their mistrust?
his idea of mistrust is pretty black and white. which means that he only decides to lose faith when you do something that stabs him in the back. that’s probably why two people have already stabbed him in the back. maybe one more will.
Do they consider laws flexible, or immovable?
laws are only good for making sure everyone stays out of everyone else’s way. otherwise, miscellaneous laws like piracy and intellectual property aren’t that important to him.
What triggers nostalgia for them, most often? Do they enjoy that feeling?
the one particular thing that triggers nostalgia for him is snow. erich’s memory of snow is not separate from his memory of old friends and family. until the point that he didn’t reunite with his fam, he felt nothing but a hollow bitterness. now, seeing snow is a little more calming.
What were they told to stop/start doing most often as a child?
alright, so for one, for the longest time he was supposed to be an important role model for his sister, younger than him by five years. so he was pushed to start being responsible from a pretty young age. after that he had to be pushed to participate in things at school, which he hated doing because it was all silly and he was bad at arts and crafts.
Do they swear? Do they remember their first swear word?
oh yeah, sure. he has no sanctity when it comes to that kind of stuff. his first swear word has to be shit. but in german, so scheiße. mama was absolutely shooked.
What lie do they most frequently remember telling? Does it haunt them?
unfort, erich has told and continues to tell a lot of lies, some little and white, others less so. the most significant lie he’s told is hiding what really happened while he was on his own from his family. okay, this needs some insight on his backstory jhsjfds but uh to summarise: he was separated from his family, under the guardianship of a stranger for a little while, but got involved in deep web conspiracies and eventually got himself kidnapped and psychologically tortured for a bit but he hasn’t told his fam about it after they reunited.
How do they cope with confusion (seek clarification, pretend they understand, etc)?
his pride, damn it. he will never admit he hasn’t understood anything ever, he’ll just nod and try to fill in the gaps himself and i hate him.
How do they deal with an itch found in a place they can’t quite reach?
try his best to reach it. his parents didn’t raise a quitter. probably just duck into a quiet place if there are too many people around.
What color do they think they look best in? Do they actually look best in that color?
he thinks he looks really good in this grey jacket he has, which he’s especially partial to. it’s pretty shit. what he really looks good in are stark colours, especially black and white.
What animal do they fear most?
dogs. he has allergies. other than that, maybe raccoons.
How do they speak? Is what they say usually thought of on the spot, or do they rehearse it in their mind first?
he rehearses absolutely nothing and dies like a man. however, to be honest, speaking isn’t really his thing, it’s kind of a last resort. he’s much, much more of a listener. that being said, he has the tendency to say things that aren’t socially tactful, but not frequently.
What makes their stomach turn?
later in his arc he’s forced to be a decent protagonist and blackmail the antagonist with what the antagonist loves the most. he doesn’t like being in a position where there’s absolutely no doubt he’s doing something bad. basically if he knows he’s breaking the golden rule, he’s going to be uncomfortable.
Are they easily embarrassed?
yes. yes. and his friend jamie, another oc, will use this to her advantage until she dies.
What embarrasses them?
compliments. insults. mentions of his past. just anything that’s about him, being said by another people. he talks about himself, others talk about themselves
What is their favorite number?
what’s the point ?? he has no favourites.
If they were asked to explain the difference between romantic and platonic or familial love, how would they do so?
noah fence but he’s a terrible person to ask about this. he’d literally say “familial love is like platonic love but for family” and “romantic love is platonic love but when you kiss”.
Why do they get up in the morning?
fuck if he knows. first it was because he’d get dragged out of bed by his physical therapist if he didn’t show up. now it’s because he’s being hunted down by an organised crime cult thing.
How does jealousy manifest itself in them (they become possessive, they become aloof, etc)?
erich has difficulty making personal attachments to anything, so he isn’t frequently overwhelmed by strong feelings of jealousy. if he is, he has difficulty making anything of it beyond “i am mad. why am i mad. what”.
How does envy manifest itself in them (they take what they want, they become resentful, etc)?
for the first week erich does try to take some kind of moral high ground and ignore it, but second week leads to bitterness and snideness. although envy is not really a big deal for him. he has a fairly healthy family dynamic once he reunites with them, finances aren’t terrible etc. if i had to attribute a fatal flaw to them it’d be either pride or wrath.
Is sex something that they’re comfortable speaking about? To whom?
i mean, in theory he’s comfortable because he doesn’t think of it as some super taboo subject. sure, sex. but because he’s been socially constrained for much of his life he’s just kind of bleh about it.
What are their thoughts on marriage?
marriage is marriage. woop. does he want to get married ? heck no, he’s got shit to do.
What is their preferred mode of transportation?
the london tube (he lives in london). the organisation of so many lines with all the crossover points is so, so satisfying.
What causes them to feel dread?
forgetting. names, places, faces, details. especially when he can’t remember if it was important or not. he hates being surprised by events.
Would they prefer a lie over an unpleasant truth?
yes. yes. absolutely yes. truth is way overrated in society in his opinion. nothing is really true because everything is subjective. in which case, people can just pick the reality that suits them. if it doesn’t hurt anybody, why bother.
Do they usually live up to their own ideals?
no. his ideal isn’t as much an image of himself as it is the goal of taking down aforementioned organised crime ring. he hasn’t done that yet.
Who do they most regret meeting?
i’m so very glad you asked. albert michael strauss, a colleague of erich’s father, who took him in after he was separated from his family, and took splendid care of him — for the first year. after that, he realised that erich was involved in shady business and gave him out to the police without a blink which later led to the kidnapping. yeah, erich wants him dead.
Who are they the most glad to have met?
kisha and jamie, his physical therapist and her mentee respectively. they were pretty successful in bringing him out of his shell after the torture, giving him support, asking about his family, helping out with finances, and finally even letting him stay with them when he gets evicted later in the story.
Do they have a go-to story in conversation? Or a joke?
if erich’s super comfortable with you he may tell you stories of his younger sister being dumb. of which he has quite a few. otherwise, if he’s feeling a little prideful, he’ll tell you the story of how he got onto a plane and got off it scot free without a boarding pass or a passport. yes, that did actually happen, and he’s so proud.
Could they be considered lazy?
no. he knows what he wants and he’s proactive enough to get it.
How hard is it for them to shake a sense of guilt?
oh boy, okay so erich rarely does things that make him feel a super genuine sense of guilt. he tends to justify it with ‘it was necessary’. but if something does indeed make him feel guilty he will he haunted by it for days and days.
How do they treat the things their friends come to them excited about? Are they supportive?
he listens and nods and maybe even quips. if its someone very close he’ll agree to help if needed. he’s got a very impersonal kind of supportive system that i’m still figuring out.
Do they actively seek romance, or do they wait for it to fall into their lap?
i mean provided that a) he trusts someone, and b) cares about them to the extent that he has such strong platonic love that he begins to be confused about his feelings, he’d be in love. but that’s a huge process. so no thanks.
Do they have a system for remembering names, long lists of numbers, things that need to go in a certain order (like anagrams, putting things to melodies, etc)?
not really sksksk he forgets things like a cool person.
What memory do they revisit the most often?
memories of being locked in a tiny dark room, memories of being kept in a blindingly white, noiseless room. memories of being bombarded with loud and overlapping speeches and music till he can’t even hear his own thoughts. that kind of memory.
How easy is it for them to ignore flaws in other people?
difficult. his natural cynicism of people emphasizes on their flaws and may even ignore their good points. even with his best friends, he can’t ignore flaws when they pop up. it doesn’t diminish his appreciation of them, however.
How sensitive are they to their own flaws?
facts: erich’s sense of self is awful. he is pretty much playing a video game character of himself in the real world, interacting with objects and making observations with little attention on himself. if someone did call them out for being apathetic, cold and/or straight up duplicitous and condescending he’ll go “yes but what’s your point”
How do they feel about children?
okay, kids are a bit of a weak spot with erich, mostly because he has a baby sister. he likes how silly and unbothered about the world they are, it’s very amusing to him. also, objectively, he’s relatively decent at calming kids down and taking care of basic needs. once the mess that is his plot is over he wouldn’t mind having a kid.
How badly do they want to reach their end goal?
he wants to take down mettugi pretty badly but he’s not passionately blindsided enough to do something stupid. he’s willing to kill but he’s not willing to die. if he plays his cards right it won’t be necessary.
If someone asked them to explain their sexuality, how would they do so?
shrug emoji. it all depends on who he can connect with.
QUESTIONS FOR CREATORS
A) Why are you excited about this character?
i’m excited mainly because i want to break a really gross trope in writing him. there’s this trope of tall, dark, handsome boys with dark pasts that are abusive to their friends and generally flat characters with no real meaning to them. i want a surface level tall, dark and handsome with genuine wit, capacity for sympathy and a moral code skskks
B) What inspired you to create them?
oh boy long story short i doodled a person on the back of a test paper in ninth grade which gave me an idea for a detached character who hacks in solitude and he’s sort of developed over the years into what he is today. no single thing inspired him.
C) Did you have trouble figuring out where they fit in their own story?
no, because they’re the protagonist for the first segment of this story.
D) Have they always had the same physical appearance, or have you had to edit how they look?
absolutely not ! draft one erich was much older, and ethnically german. this erich is younger and the son of turkish immigrants to germany.
E) Are they someone you would get along with? Would they get along with you?
i think we’re both too detached and awkward to get along and get close, but we certainly wouldn’t have arguments.
F) What do you feel when you think of your OC (pride, excitement, frustration, etc)?
frustration because ARGH i’m having trouble getting a hold of him and fleshing him out
G) What trait of theirs bothers you the most?
erich is meant to be a little volatile, but i’m having difficulty defining it very well. also it gets everyone around them to pull away just when they were getting close and that’s frustrating as an author too.
H) What trait do you admire most?
casual sympathy ! erich won’t hold your hand and tell you it’s alright but he will try to cook for you. he also tends to be generous to buskers and the like just because.
I) Do you prefer to keep them in their canon universe?
yes but i do that with all my ocs because they’re so defined by their context and canon.
J) Did you have to manipulate or exclude canon factors to allow them to create their character?
uh i’m not 100% sure what this question is asking tbh but the way this story is proceeding it’s very much driven by the characters — the story doesn’t make the muses, it’s the other way around.
omg what’s her favorite food and ring size and is she a walking or driving kind of person?
her favorite food is bangers and mash (british dish thats sausages and mashed potatoes) and it was the first meal she had on a ship ! idk about ring size she is 9 ft tall so im not sure what the dimensions would be lmfao we can figure it out together and she’s a walking person ! she likes to take in the scenery a lot
What class is she? What weapons does she prefer? What's her preferred method of killing? Quick, clean, brutal, personal? What's her backstory? Is she into holding hands?
if scàthach were to be in bg3 she would be a fighter/paladin of vengeance LMFAO. her preferred weapon though she can use others aside from it is the spear ! her preferred method of cleaning is a mix between brutal and clean. she would never prolong the suffering (most of the time) and goes for the kill. her backstory is complex and very long so i will put it under the cut ! one piece spoilers warning ! and yes. she is very into holding hands.
