Abaddon: The Destruction/The Void

No one knows what exactly the man is, just that he is to be feared and is eternally loyal to the Devildom’s king. Shrouded in mystery, possibly as old as Lucifer or even ‘Father’ the man once ruled the land that’s his namesake, the place there departed spirits rest, the true home of reapers. It being the secondary home of yokai offered the Lantern Lighter, once his right hand, to care for it in his place, the line still doing as such to this day and still the pair share close ties no matter who the new Lantern Lighter is. Served the Devildom king faithfully even carrying out the final command he was given eons ago, to guard the undersea fortress, to this day. No other resides there after his child Merlin left, so much of his time is now occupied with hobbies, selling Mammon his home brewed demonus here, candy making there, anything one can think of he’s probably tried it at some point. He only leaves on occasion to visit the young prince, worried if he’s even capable to rule, and more often once the exchange student arrives to make sure you’re safe. Diavolo dragged you into this and the prince frankly can’t be trusted with keeping a life unharmed and so, Abaddon will pick up the slack here, just for you.

Looks: messy long dark green hair with gray streaks, orange eyes, dark tan skin tone, a scar right next to one of his eyes and one that goes down his lips, light stubble usually there’s a patch on the chin, buff build (no six-pack, healthily toned and strong ex. Highland Games participants)

Preferred clothing: tank top+leather jacket with furred inside/long-sleeved shirt+cape with fur, long flexible pants, hand fan (anywhere outside of the sea fortress or snowy places are too hot despite, this loon Always WEARING FLOOFY FUR EVERYWHERE)

ok I did read aurum's page but I love the connection between everybody!!

what does aurum think of abaddon? I know he doesn't like mammon's brothers but does he think of abaddon as the cool uncle? or just one of his dad's friends?

So generally, considering Abaddon treats Mammon well, no matter the universe upon learning of this fact they at least like him.

It more so depends on which of the two main timelines I have that we’re talking about

SO

in the universe in which things play out as they do in the games, Aurum doesn’t know of Abaddon at all at first. Mammon doesn’t exactly have a reason to bring up the guy, the most Aurum would probably ever get is being told his sword was made by a truly skilled person and that the hand crafted Demonus Mammon gets is from that guy.

Only some time after meeting the MC do they actually visit the Devildom for the first time.

But eventually they would get to meet Abaddon and REALLY like him considering he’d basically be the only person they’ve ever met who no matter the situation never belittles or insults their dad. They’d be quiet about it but adore the guy and would try encouraging Mammon to spend more time with him. Anything to get him away from the pricks Mammon calls brothers.

Aurum would definitely see Abaddon more as his dad’s friend than anything else. (Other than a cool dude *sick guitar riff*)

IN THE OTHER TIMELINE

He’s just another customer to the Aries’ Dream. Definitely unique looks wise so it’s easy to remember the man. They did have suspicions the man was a demon, but as long as he didn’t cause trouble for the other patrons, Aurum really couldn’t care less about the species of whoever visits The Dream.

They are a bit more cautious around him than most considering he actually noticed their sword, it was only a flicker of the eye but that's something few should be able to do unless Aurum unsheathed it, or took it off.

can we get the story of Abaddon and Mammon?? you mentioned it in your other response that they're on good terms so now I'm so curious about that

Okay…. So…

In order to understand the WEIGHT behind the moment that sparked their friendship we’re gonna have to get into some ✨Aurum lore✨

However you wanna know about Abaddon and idk if you looked at Aumum’s page SO this is what we’ll do. I’ll try to keep the Aurum stuff to a minimum, TLDR it, HOWEVER if you want more context on what I’m about to gloss over, you are absolutely free to ask for details. (Or about anything else)

Our story starts off with

Aurum, the human adopted child of this dork

Mammon

Three things you need to know.

A. Mammon ADORES this kid and loves them so much. B. Unfortunately Mammon is a bit of an absent parent, any time he’s in the human world he normally can’t stay long and gets summoned back by Lucifer. C. At the time this event takes place, NO ONE, NOT EVEN LUCIFER WHO MAMMON TRUSTS ALMOST COMPLETELY know of Aurum’s existence, sure Belphie didn’t freak out about humans yet, but like, his brothers knew how he HATED them and Mammon didn’t think it a good idea to risk Belphie finding out about his kid because he didn’t want either to get hurt.

AURUM’S PART TLDR

Aurum went missing during a classmate’s birthday party that Mammon basically forced him to go to, and Mammon obviously went looking for his kid and was starting to panic, and is summoned back by a miffed Lucifer to which Mammon sneaks his way back to the human world and then he finds Aurum… on the brink of death, that is when Lucifer summons Mammon back again and is mad about Mammon constantly sneaking off to the human world but Mammon is

SPIRALING

Mammon is distraught even after Aurum is safe, and very much alive still. He feels guilty that he couldn’t let this kid go and be adopted by someone else, guilty that he always has to be gone, guilty about making his kid go to this party in the first place, guilty that he wasn’t there to protect his kid, guilty that they now have permanent scars from the incident, guilty that despite ALL THAT Aurum was just so happy to see their dad even while bleeding out.

All this CRUSHED Mammon, and he vowed to never push his kid and do EVERYTHING he could to protect them, so he paid no mind to breaking laws if it’s for Aurum.

There is a kind of metal only found in Abaddon that can kill anything, ghosts, humans, yokai, angels, demons, anything. It can even ward off death if rumors are to be believed.

And so, Mammon went searching, and searching, and searching till he finally found a lead in a person named Abaddon.

Mammon went to meet the man, his request for the metal denied before he could even finish speaking. Mammon tried everything, bargaining, threatening, but nothing worked and Mammon was stripped of all his bluster and confidence, crying and begging

And during this Mammon says his child is human- Abaddon agrees to help. Mammon couldn’t even finish pouring his heart out when Abaddon pulls him off the floor and has him take a proper seat.

They meet up semi-frequently after this as Abaddon also decides to make the sword Mammon wanted this metal for, a sword for Aurum to protect themselves, a metal this dangerous obviously is contraband in all the worlds so the less people in on this the better. And during these meet ups Abaddon and Mammon form a bit of a friendship.

By the time the games take place Mammon sees Abaddon as a sweet grandpa type. Abaddon is also the only person Mammon can show off his greatest treasure too so sometimes will visit just to rant about Aurum. Abaddon sometimes asks about how a kid he’s never met is doing.

Often the pair do trades, usually crafting supplied for Demonus, as Aurum is a bartender Mammon likes giving his kid an ‘edge’ on the competition by providing a drink no one else can get. (Although Demonus just tastes like lemonade to/has no effects on humans but ssshhhhhhhh)

Mammon and Abaddon also just genuinely like one another’s company, Mammon’s even tried dragging Abaddon out partying but always gets politely declined. Sometimes Mammon and Abaddon discuss money making ideas or whatever else, like parenting. They also text a lot. The pair do keep this friendship on the down low considering it did start because of illegal activities, it’s not something they do on purpose, just more of a Abaddon talks to almost no one and Abaddon never comes up in conversation for Mammon.

Abaddon, no matter how dumb or chaotic Mammon gets would never insult or look down on the demon, he respects Mammon too much, besides it’s just basic decency to him. Because of this friendship Abaddon dose get a bit more experimental with his Demonus because it makes their little tasting parties more fun. Mammon has to choose the best of each batch after all, his kid deserves nothing less… even if both turn into howling, laughing messes halfway through and forget/can’t read the notes they took on which Demonus was better in which way. These tasting parties do make Mammon a bit more instant on Abaddon going out and partying, he knows it would be one hell of a night if he could just get himself, Asmo, and Abaddon together.

You can actually see a little reference to Mammon and Abaddon's Demonus trading towards the end of this fic, four lines above the paragraph starting with 'His smile kind and soft, shoulders relaxed, heart thumping against their ribcage.'
