When Stephen Met Lancaster
Lancaster slides down his wall and sits on the floor, swiping across profiles on his phone, hoping someone matches with him. It's been a while since his last date, and it didn't go well. He looks at his own dating profile, thinking about the images he chose and the info he put in. "I should be genuine..." The photos he chose make him look like a fuck boy and a gym rat. He can't figure out how to not look like a jackass.
Stephen lays in bed, swiping profiles as well. It's been a while since he and his ex broke up, and he's decidedly ready to try again with someone new. He swipes across some profiles, accepting and rejecting to his preferences. As he continues, he comes across Lancaster's profile. "Lancaster, 22, Self Employed, 1 mile away. He looks at the first photo and nearly rejects Lancaster, but he stops himself before he does. "Self employed? How does he have the time to look like that if he's self employed?" He taps into Lancaster's profile and looks across the photos and details. "God, he's kinda cute though..." His profile description reads "I haven't been with anyone before, but I'd still like to get to know anyone. I am self employed, I generally enjoy downtime and quiet mornings and afternoons." Stephen takes the shot and accepts Lancaster's profile.
They match. Lancaster, still on the floor, gets a notification of the match. He taps into it and looks over Stephen's profile for the first time. "Stephen, 22, Indie Musician, 1 mile away." He Looks at the photos of Stephen and she's someone he could bond with. Stephen's profile reads "I enjoy free time whenever, wherever. On the road or at home, I just enjoy spending time with people and sharing, it's kinda why I got into music." Stephen sends a message first. "I don't have any pickup lines, I just wanna say you're cute." Lancaster hurriedly types a response. "You are too." Pensively, they both try to think of something to send. After a moment of nothing else coming to mind, Lancaster takes a shot in the dark. "I would love to go on a date sometime, if you're willing to." "Sure, I could. Any day usually works, I'll just have to double check to see if I have anything else planned that day." "How about tomorrow? I can do tomorrow at 6 if that's good with you." Stephen pauses for a moment and thinks to himself, "Tomorrow? He's a bit quick on the gun. It works but it seems a bit too good to be true. Worth a shot, I guess. Worst case scenario I'll have a plan for dinner tomorrow." He sends, "I can do tomorrow. Do you have any place in mind? There's an upscale restaurant not too far from where I live that I enjoy, it's called Verre de Mer." "Truth be told I haven't been to fancy restaurant in a long time, I don't really know about them in my area. Verre de Mer sounds good to me." "I'll put in a reservation. See you then!" "Sounds good to me." Lancaster groans, seeing that he sent "Sounds good to me" twice in a row. Stephen puts in the reservation.
