I don't think I 've talked about this much in details, but one of my ideas for the Twins' book 1 adventures is having the Water and Wind orb sagas occur simultaneously.
Part of this is a way to take advantage of having two heroes, but also to take advantage of Cap. Blackberry learning about the Wind Orb via a chest he discovered at sea. It's a fairly easy jump to adjust the chest so that it came from Kathool the same way that he influenced Davey's madness.
The basic premise is that the twins start the Wind Orb saga with Rhubarb but during the Water Potion heist, Macbeth is knocked overboard during the fighting. This brings him to what would be the locker where he is found and rescued by Aquella.
Water orb story progresses broadly in line with canon, with notable changes including the Locker not yet being founded (due to the water potion spill being literal days ago), and the deathknight twins being more present allies throughout the story.
With Macbeth missing, Blackberry uses it as leverage to keep Miriam in line and helping him with his search for the Wind Orb. Story progresses in-line with canon until he gets the orb and becomes Bracken. At this point Kathool takes more direct control and proceedes to invade the surface with an army of adepts and undead, as well as corupted pirates and ninja.
This leads to a desperate alliance between the Pirate and Ninja as they fight off an apocalypse.
Around about this time Team Water Orb is also engaging Kathool's other army of undead, corrupted elementals, and Abyssal elves.
Eventually, Miriam and the Alliance successfully take down Bracken and break the back of Kathool's invasion. The backlash from Bracken's defeat also weakens Kathool himself enough that he can be knocked back into slumber.
During this time, the twins experience significant changes to their fighting styles. Macbeth, struggling to cast spells safely underwater, picks up Deathknight skills from Caran & Diawe. Miriam quickly realises that fighting a viral enemy with just melee is a very bad idea and picks up a more ranged fighting style with the Pirate class.
Also elements of Mass effect bleed into the story as well. Kathool's influence takes cues from reaper indoctrination with Kordana even describing Kathool influenced entities as indoctrinated life forms.
My totally normal and mentally stable woman. She is FINE and DANDY and DID NOT ☝️ kill her younger sister. She does however beat zombies with a barb-wire wrapped baseball bat.
