Princess Avonne and Prince Vanstrom have extremely different ideologies and methods of ruling
Avonne, current ruler-in-training, has quickly become beloved by the people of Amberspire due to her charitable and nurturing nature that far surpasses Pepper’s.
Though somewhat awkward when it comes to interactions, due to her spending all her formative years within the mind-bending forest of Starwood Strand with her father, but grew to love the Amberspirians much like family after first meeting them. (They gave her a puppy as a gift and sign of goodwill and... well, when you’ve never been given gifts before it really hits you.)
She pioneered a proper schooling program, alongside increases in compassionate pay when dragons become sick or lose members of their families.
Morale hasn’t been so high since the founding days of Amberspire - but her desire to make her clan happy is resulting in the loss of a significant amount of money.
She believes that good will come back to it in the end, and Pepper is permitting it as part of her trial run - as well as entertaining her belief that a happier workforce will become a stronger one.
Vanstrom, however, balks at the monthly losses - and most of all the fact that attention is moving away from Amberspire’s legendary military forces.
He is deeply concerned by the fact that the clan’s defenses are weakening whilst effort to improve other factions within make it a more desirable target for others.
In his eyes, Avonne’s changes to the clan are completely and utterly unsustainable and put Amberspire and all within at rapidly growing risk. It is his belief that the clan should return to Pepper’s old ways - military efforts first, everything else second - immediately to prevent looming disaster.
