Apprenticember Day 8: Marty HECKIN' KITY

Voidemar (Void for short) appeared in Marty's life some time post-route. On a dramatically stormy evening, a tiny black kitten was hiding from the downpour on the doorstep of Julian's clinic. Naturally, the poor soaked thing was carried home, where he successfully purred and squeaked his way into both men's hearts. The kitten proceeded to grow into an absolute unit of a cat – he's not "chonky", just actually large for a regular cat.

Void is anything but regular, though. Wickedly smart in a way only familiars get, he also seems to share Faust's ability to travel in… unconventional ways, moving in and out of places even if physics shouldn't be allowing it. The length of his coat changes depending on the season, but while he appreciates brushing, he never seems to form mats. Marty claims that when Void "talks", the cat has a very deep mental voice and a refined manner of speech, though Julian is about 60% sure the magician is just messing with him.

Once an adult, he doesn't meow anymore, instead making all sorts of "mrrp" sounds. Is known to huff and sigh at both Julian and Marty when they're working for too long.

My MCs & how they use the internet

Directly inspired by elsyrel’s headcanons because fun. Modern AU (but magic still exists)

Alastor:

Either replies instantly or “Last seen online 2 weeks ago”

Mainly uses the web for research and noise generators. Reads Wikipedia pages about astrophysics for fun while listening to forest and rain sounds.

Bless him he’s trying but he’s usually too busy to get into the Internet culture, despite being friends with memelords that are Asra and Portia. Ask him what a meme is and he’ll probably describe demotivators or rage comics.

He only has a smartphone because he wants to look things up when needed and take random pics. There's a 80% chance that the screen is cracked. (Still mainly uses an unkillable brick Nokia for calls though.)

Has a tumblr page mostly just for reblogging archaeology/magic facts and images of nature and rocks. Got into a few arguments over fact correcting, but is also known by some people for his extensive knowledge of magic, so sometimes he does Q&As about it. Has pages on some other social media just to follow his friends and crush.

(Outside of the internet he is sometimes invited to give lectures in universities, a few students suspect that he’s the same guy that owns that one weird tumblr page because of his style of explaining things.)

All of his tumblr pages were hit and nuked by the 2018 purge. Didn’t bother returning after that.

His store now has a fancy webpage, of course.

Naturally has an Onlyfans with a lot of very explicit content, including interactive streams. Thanks to the adult store business and numerous contacts has a fuckton of toys to “test out”. Puts a lot of effort into his footage setup and editing.

Tried to set up a Twitch channel to stream RPGs but just didn’t have the time to keep it up. So he mostly plays singleplayer games by himself.

Void has more followers than the other two pages combined and a few pics of him went viral. There’s also a rather popular youtube page with just short videos of the cat. Marty gets advertisement offers but refuses all of them, eventually setting up some Void merch though.
