Update on: Midnight Madness
Status: Help me my brain is dying On hold for the moment. I realized that I might need to do a little more worldbuilding because...I mean...if Lyra's in trouble for breaking the law it would be helpful if I knew what laws were being broken, what the process is, and what the potential punishment is. Kinda...necessary for me to know how she gets out of it.
Last lines I wrote:
Her glare intensified. He sighed and leaned forward. “Look…if you do not want to tell us your name, that is one thing. And I congratulate you upon learning the name of the incoming princess. That is not public knowledge yet, so you are incredibly well informed for a thief. And possibly the murders on the ship inbound were not your fault. Your companion certainly carries more guilt than you. However, until you are willing to tell us the truth and not a mix of myth and cleverly-constructed falsehoods…” he gestured to the guards behind him. “We will have to postpone this conversation until a later date.”

Are you named after anyone?
Ah, no. That is not really how our naming conventions work. But I have always found it interesting when I encounter those that are.
When was the last time you cried?
Oh, no. I try not to cry. Well, intentional crying. If I was struck in a...ahem...'sensitive' area during training and tears welled up out of response, then that was what you would consider three days ago when Lyra was practicing her underhanded hand-to-hand tactics to be used in case of a brawl. But when if you are talking of the more emotional root of it...Crying is a needed emotional release, but it is one of many and I often choose a different release. Crying clouds the eyes and makes it harder to keep track of the Princess.
Do you have kids?
Aha. No. And I do not desire them. I have been mentor and bodyguard to most of the ruling family of Queton, and am still looking after the youngest. But...if I am honest, I look after Lyra like she was my own, so the desire, if I ever had one, would be fulfilled anyway.
Do you use sarcasm a lot?
Certainly not. (That's a lie, his sarcasm is extremely dry)
What’s the first thing you notice about people?
The way they hold themselves. The ego they have, and if it is earned.
What’s your eye color?
Brown, I think.
Scary movies or happy endings?
Happy endings, certainly.
Any special talents?
Yes. Keeping Lyra out of trouble. A talent that gets used on a regular basis and has...mixed outcomes.
Where were you born?
In the kingdom of Meridon, on the planet of Elkien. One of the middle burrows in the plains, right above the floodplains. The light from the stars was beautiful when they caught the water.
Do you have any pets?
Only those that Lyra brings to my attention.
What sports do you play?
I do not really have time for sports these days. I used to play a mean...ahem...well, it was different but the closest thing you have to it would be kickball. And I was a champion, if I do say so myself.
How tall are you?
You would say I am five and a half feet. Or...Perhaps it is five feet, six inches.
What was your favorite subject in school?
Creation lore. Oh, I found it fascinating to learn about all the different ways our kingdoms thought our planets and universe and worlds were created. So many stories. So many ruins. So fascinating.
What is your dream job?
The one I have now. I am very proud that I am a teacher, mentor, and guard for Princess Lyra and I would not give it up for the world.
