Got an idea and spent the whole day working on it: making a poster for each of my legacies (ngl got inspired by a post on reddit). Don't know how it turned out with my lack of experience, but I kinda like it? Anyway, here are 2 versions bc I like both equally.
Yep. That’s exactly it. I know, not the best way to describe my characters, but an easy one. This all makes perfect sense in my head, but may be confusing for everyone else. I’ll do it anyway.
I asked if I should do the silly headcanons thing, and some people said “yes”, so here we go. I'll put a "read more" line, don't worry. First one will be, what I call it, the "Misfits" legacy. Remember, all of these are just my headcanons, and they can differ from the game.
And, of course, spoilers for Knights of the Fallen Empire/Eternal Throne ahead!
1. Starting with basics. Who is your Outlander (which class, what their alignment)? How did they end up being frozen in carbonite for 5 years? Why did you make them the Outlander?
In the "Misfits" legacy (because most of my OCs here are somewhat misfitting their class roles) Airistan is the Outlander. Jedi Knight, but a dark sided one seemed interesting enough for me to put her through the Eternal Throne storyline. Nothing too different from the in-game story here (since obviously the story from SoR is the best for the Knight), maybe with a few additions, like the Emperor's Wrath was also involved in her little group during SoR and everything like this.
2. Now, to the rest of classes. What happens to them during KotFE/ET? Did they know the Outlander? Were they allies, enemies, family? Do they join the Alliance or have something else to do? Do they play a major or a minor role in the story? Spare no detail (if you wish, of course).
Before going to the answer, I need to say that I still haven't figured out absolutely every detail in their stories and roles, but more or less have ideas about this.
Jedi Consular: Bal’sara, not a dark sided or neutral, but pretty selfish friend of Airistan since the latter was accepted in the Jedi Order. Wasn't present during the events of SoR, but still played important roles in other storylines (such as Ilum, Makeb), and after Airistan's disappearance the task of protecting the Republic and leading its army in war has become a lot more difficult. Since the Hero of Tython was assumed missing (and more likely dead), a lot of people looked at Bal'sara as someone who would save the Republic again, and it was just too much responsibility for her, and at some point (near the treaty with Zakuul) she gave up the fight. When Lana approached Barsen'thor with an offer to built an Alliance and find Airistan, she agreed and helped to gather as many allies from Republic side who would follow Airistan as she could and reunited with her long lost friend during chapter 9 on Odessen. Since then stayed in the Alliance and played a major role in helping to manage it.
Smuggler: Elixess, takes no sides (yes, I’m aware that smugglers work a lot for the Republic, but for Ixess it’s nothing more than just a job), but eventually ends up working a lot with one particular Barsen’thor Jedi and develops feelings for her. Elixess didn’t personally know Airistan, but ended up joining the Alliance anyway. Doesn’t have a major role in the bigger story, just does a lot of work for Hylo’s underworld network.
Trooper: Vestium knew Airistan personally (though not as close as Bal’sara) since she helped the (not yet full) Havoc Squad. Loyal to the Republic, not a fan of Imps, but when Zakuul attacked, even he understood that the Republic alone can’t win this fight and a temporary alliance with the Sith Empire would be better. So when Barsen’thor offered him to help her to form the Alliance (because they also know each other), Vestium agreed without hesitation.
Sith Warrior: Warning: some really dumb headcanons ahead! So, Xaetel is my only light sided Sith Warrior so far, and to make him, a loyal to the Empire and working on making it better Sith, work alongside a dark sided Jedi who hated Sith Empire for her whole life and never missed and opportunity to hurt it, seemed rather interesting. He and Airistan were both present at the events of Shadows of Revan and on Ziost and, even though they had a lot of differences, they managed to work towards common goal. It was only natural that Xaetel would join Darth Marr and his coalition to find Vitiate. He, just as Marr and Airistan, was trapped on Marr’s flagship, captured by Arcann later and brought to Valkorion. After Airistan “killed” Valkorion, Xaetel didn’t lose consciousness, but also was blamed for Emperor’s death and was supposed to be frozen in carbonite. With his strength in the Force and dumb luck he escaped from carbonite freezing chamber (he and Airistan were in different chambers), stole one of Knights armor and escaped from the Spire. Still, he wasn’t able to get off-world and was stuck on Zakuul, spending most of time in the Endless Swamp and the Old World. After about two years is found by Senya, who helps him to get from Zakuul. At some point meets Lana, who offers him to form the Alliance, and he agrees. Plays a major role in the Alliance.
Sith Inquisitor: Valliara is also my only light sided Sith Inquisitor so far and is an ally of Xaetel in remaking the Sith Empire. Val only knew Airistan from the short time they shared on Yavin IV, trying to srop Revan. They were supposed to join Airistan, Xaetel and Darth Marr in searching for Vitiate, but arrived too late, only to find destroyed ships and a few survivors. By the time when Acina proclaimed herself an Empress, Val was still a member of the Dark Council, but after they realized that the Empire was not going to do anything about Arcann, they agreed to help Lana in building the Alliance and looking for an answer to Valkorion’s power.
Bounty Hunter: Myk didn’t know Airistan personally and didn’t get to work with her until the very chapter 14. Aside from Val, has no connections to other characters. After the start of Zakuul invasion remained with the crew, but joined Mandalorians when the Mandalore made the call. Was assigned as the liason between Mandalorians and the Alliance as well.
Agent: Riwiaka didn’t have any connections to Airistan before KotFE. After her class story Riwiaka tells Keeper Minister of Intelligence to go f*ck himself and cut all ties to the Sith Empire. By the time of Zakuul invasion she with Kaliyo made a lot of attacks against Arcann’s forces, and during of those around the end of second year after chapter 1 is killed.
3. What about companions? Do you follow their in-game story or have headcanons for them? Did they stay with your non-Outlander characters or not? Why?
Jedi Consular: Bal’sara gives Nadia the task of helping Jedi survive on Ossus, Tharan decides to stay in the Republic instead of taking risk of fighting Zakuul, Felix and Qyzen stay with Bal, Zenith’s fate is unknown.
Smuggler: the crew stays with Elixess.
Trooper: Vestium knew that for leaving the Republic he’ll become a deserter, but takes that risk anyway. The rest of the Havoc Squad either stays with the Republic (Elara, Aric and M1-4X) or leaves (Yuun and Tanno Vik).
Sith Warrior: follows in-game scenario, since Xaetel disappears with Marr and Airistan.
Sith Inquisitor: the crew stays with Val.
Bounty Hunter: the crew stays together until Myk and Torian join the Mandalorians. Mako eventually ends up with Smuggler’s crew, Gault, Blizz and Skadge follow their in-game scenario.
Agent: the crew (except for Kaliyo) part their ways after Riwiaka cuts her ties with the Imperial Intelligence. Riv and Kaliyo continue their usual activity, and when former Cipher Nine is dead, Kaliyo starts her in-game story (bombing Zakuul and etc).
4. If applicable: how your characters react if the Alliance joins the opposite faction on Iokath and after that? For example: how do Sith characters feel about joining the Republic? Will they stay or leave (if it's too spoiler-ish, then feel free to skip this)?
Oh, this one is definitely applicable. Airistan is known for being loyal to the Republic, so when the time comes, her choice on Iokath and after Nathema is obvious. Bal’sara, Elixess, Vestium and Myk has no problems with this decision. Xaetel and Val, of course, aren’t happy about it, but they also don't want to leave the Alliance they have built, so mostly, they are trying to not participate in anything that has to do something with the Empire, which becomes more and more difficult with time. (what will happen later depends on next expansions)
5. If applicable: if your Commander decides to be a saboteur, would they tell anyone (PC or companions)? Why/why not?
Not applicable.
6. How would your characters react if one of their companions is exiled or dead because of Outlander’s choices? For example: sith warrior's reaction if Commander doesn't save Vette?
Oof. This is way too spoiler-ish for Airistan, but let’s say that one particular character will be mad at her for that choice (you all know what choice). Both Kaliyo and Aric are fine, so no drama here.
7. If you have something written about anything from the above (bc I know some people do), share the links to your works (again, if you feel like it)!
Not yet, no. (it sounded like a threat, and it is a threat)
