I was showing some cartoons from the 2000s to my nephew today and got inspired to make the Mugen no Kagi characters in the Cartoon Network art style. I had a lot of fun playing with shapes, and it's a relief to try something different from my usual art style < 3

So for context in the 1st comic: The granny is Tora Ogami, Issei's grandmother. The guy in bandages is Issei's father, Kon Ogami. The woman in the last pannel is Issei's mother, Haruko Ogami. I'm working on their refs and Inugamis and will post soon. Basically, the father and grandmother really want Issei to have children so the clan is strengthened and the Inugami curse does not lose its power. The mother is the only one who doesn't want him to have children, because she also wants to end the curse.

Kiyomi worries about Issei when Gou teases him. She always goes to comfort him afterward, and Shigeru gets jealous because he's not the one getting female attention lol anyways, late night doodles cause I can't stop thinking abt these kids

Shigeru is a 17 y.o teenager who is part of the secret occult club called "Mugen no Kagi" (夢幻の鍵) or just "Fantastic Dream Key" that investigates the entity Akumu. Raised in a home filled with medical books and studying at medical school, he was heavily influenced by his father, a military doctor. From an early age, he developed a fascination with anatomy and surgical procedures, viewing the human body not just as an organism but as a complex machine to be manipulated. This interest gradually turned into an obsession, leading him to perform experimental surgeries on small animals in the secrecy of his room, usually doing these experiments with the animals still alive.

His personality is defined by an inflated ego and sadism. He sees himself as intellectually above others, always prioritizing his own interests before anything else.

His deep understanding of anatomy naturally led him to the occult, where he began exploring blood pacts as a means of gaining power. Convinced that he could control both the human body and the spiritual world, he started offering his own blood in rituals. To him, medicine and the occult are two sides of the same coin: both involve the dissection and manipulation of flesh and soul. However, his reckless experiments often end in disaster. His rituals frequently go wrong, either failing entirely or producing unintended consequences. Despite this, he refuses to admit any mistakes, convinced that he possesses greater knowledge than anyone else in the club.

He is always competing with the leader Himari for control, trying to position himself as the dominant voice in rituals and decision-making. Yet, no matter how much he tries, his efforts always fall short, either because his rituals fail spectacularly or because the other members simply don't take him seriously. His grand proclamations and self-assured theories are often ignored, leaving him frustrated and even more determined to prove his superiority.
