Marcel and Ray have never interacted before and I’ve had some worries that they are too similar, so I’m thinking about their differences and what they would think of one another if they encountered each other.

Marcel is generally quite disconnected from his surroundings on account of a consistent undercurrent of disassociation/depression, so he’s never been one to initiate interactions or “friendships” that he’s had

Ray, meanwhile, is overly aware of his environment - he comes off as aloof but he is quite attentive not only to his surroundings but especially to people and their vibes; if these two were ever to interact, Ray would be the one to make the first move

Marcel is not a friendly conversationalist; he’s blunt, borderline rude, and generally thinks of other people as far as they are useful to him with few exceptions

Ray loves to chat; he has chronic RBF and monotonous delivery, but he teases, engages with good intention, and while he can be manipulative, he does want to make genuine connections beyond the perks that some of his friendships offer

Marcel has a very limited set of interests and isn’t talkative in general; he’ll talk toxicology, biology, and poison dart frogs if prompted but other topics is teeth-pulling, especially if it probes into his past, feelings, and psychological state

Ray is quite reactive and has a broad range of interests; music and guitar is his biggest fixation, but he’s into movies, games, memes, indie culture, cryptids, deep sea creatures, and will immerse himself in the interests of those he’s trying to connect with – similarly though, he is allergic once conversations turn towards his past, psychology, and emotional state

So, an encounter between these two would be very short and surface-level unless I forced them into a situation lmao Ray would chat Marcel up because his gaydar would ping, Marcel would give a cold-shoulder, and Ray would back off because the vibes on this man are absolutely rancid.

The funniest thing that happened when I was playing the Sims with my ocs was that I gave Daniel and Poet a bed to share in a large shared room, and Ray his own bed in a smaller room.

I've never played Sims so I didn't realize Poet and Daniel needed develop their relationship level before they could share a bed, so Daniel started sleeping on the couch of his own volition. Poet sleeps soundly in the big bed on his own.

Meanwhile, Ray REFUSES to sleep in his bed, no matter how much I command him to. Instead, he's up throughout the entire night fucking around, then strolls out to the sidewalk in front of the house and sleeps there for 5 hours until Daniel and Poet step over him on their way to work.

Ray lives in a house downtown with 4 other queer guys. He doesn't spend a lot of time in the house, except during the winter, which is usually when he'll get caught smoking in the bathroom.
