While Doc has in general hasn't quite been a great parent, he had an extremely hard time with Rig as he saw a lot of his brother manifesting in Rig while living in New Reno. Doc did try to bring Rig back to Arroyo to see if maybe he could change his course, but after Hart pushed him back out he didn't think he could do much more passed that point.
