Its design was based on the C type (Montlehery) Midget, which in turn was a derivative of the M type. It had a large slab type petrol tank with fast fill cap, fold flat windscreen and optional aero screens, centre lock wire wheels, remote control gearchange, and a spring spoked flat steering wheel. Instruments included a temperature gauge, eight day electric clock, a leather securing strap over the bonnet and protective mesh grilles over the head lamps and radiator. The complete package of extras came in at twelve guinea (£12 - 12 shillings) The chassis was similar to the C type incorporating straight side members passing under the rear axle with tubular cross supports. It had cable operated 8 inch drum brakes, friction type Halford shock absorbers. Other chassis features included a 12 volt Rotax lighting and starting system, Rudge Whitworth wire wheels and Marles steering gear which was adjustable for rake. The J2 was strictly a two seater with two humped scuttle and low cutaway doors. Early cars feature cycle type front and rear wings, replaced the following year by long swept wings. Power came from a 847cc engine with an eight port crossflow cylinder head fed through twin down draught SU carburettor rated at 36bhp, driving through a four speed crash gearbox A supercharged version was produced known as the J3 with a high revving 750cc engine. The racing version of the J Series was the J4, basically the same as the J2 but with different steering gear and larger 12 inch brakes Diolch am 95,572,880 o olygfeydd anhygoel, mae pob un yn cael ei werthfawrogi'n fawr.
