She wore a straw hat. It barely covered her face, no matter how much she tried to hide under the large summery disk. The woman tugged at the wide brim with both hands, the edge bending and bowing, barely reaching over her nose. Her lips were still visible though as her teeth gnawed on her lower lip, already ragged from anxiety and continuously suffering erosion. Her fingers plucked at the frayed edges of the hat. It still smelled like him, like the ocean breeze that used to trail after him, like the crust of sand that edged his bare footprints, like the salt that would dry in white streaks along his skin as he would sit with her under the sun- the same sun she strove to hide her face from with her straw hat full of the scent of memories.
