The Marriage Pact | Alan & Kara
“Shit! If you are going to act this way, I swear to god, I’m going to sell you.”
Kara had been yelling this, and other such obscenities at her car, unaware of the pedestrians that hurried past her as quickly as they could. It had refused to start. Again. She should have traded it in a long time ago, but she’d bought it with her own money right after high school, and she didn’t want to let it go. Tonight, it had left her stranded at a bar after (another) bad date. The guy she’d gone with had literally shrugged his shoulders and said “that sucks” when he saw her try to get it to start before he just pulled out, without even offering if he could drive her somewhere.
She tried texting Annie to see if she could pick her up, but she was pulling an all nighter at work and couldn’t leave. Luckily, Alan lived only a few blocks from where she was so, ditching her car, she walked.
"Alan? Alan, are you here?” She asked, waltzing into his house without bothering to knock. She plopped down on his couch, “My car won’t start ... so and no one is surprised. I’m gonna sleep on your couch. Also ... I think I just got conned by my date.”
