Blink
An artificial moon,
Elevated beneath the sterile white
I see looking up.
Blink. White. Artificial moon.
Blink. Still on.
Blink. Light turns off.
We joke about it being a ghost.
It’s just on a timer.
Dark. I close my eyes.
If only my mind was that light.
On, go about my day, off.
But it’s perpetually, hauntingly dark.
A vast ocean, after the sun but without a moon,
Not even a guiding star.
Thoughts, sometimes lapping rings,
Sometimes a reckless army of black tendrils,
Captivate me.
It’s endless… I drift, I drown.
Open. Blink. Light on.
Sleepy baby
Sleepy lady
Me, a tent and who?
