Powder Pink
March 30 marked the first time in my life that I saw cherry blossoms. From Seoul, I traveled roughly four hours (via KTX/high-speed train) to Busan. I was supposed to go to Jinhae, which was one and a half hours away from the Busan city center. However, I lost my bag (nothing much in there, so no worries) and had to stay put at a police station in Choryang, where this nice policewoman told me that there’s a place nearby where I could see cherry blossoms.
Through my barok Korean conversation skills, lots of sign language, and our translation apps (LIFESAVER, I TELL YOU), they told me to go to Dongnae, seven subway stops away from Busan station.
From there, I walked along Ocheon Stream Park for 3 hours. The weather was good, the sky bright blue. I strolled the 10km stream, savoring each cherry tree, photographing families, couples, and students, and thinking about how blessed I am to witness such lovely setting.
