Declan is a troublemaker with "anger issues", or so his teachers always said. He doesn't much care for that anymore, now that he's out of school and on the road to stardom (or so he hopes). His passion, much like one of Bren's boyfriends, is drumming.
As one of Bren's herd, it's unclear if he knows exactly what's going on with his friend and bandmate. He knows Bren sometimes mutters something about being hungry and then Declan wakes up as if from a daze. That's all he knows and...if it gets him what he wants and keeps him next to his friend, that's fine with him.
