Evolution || Nate & Syd
A flash of lightening lit up the sky, the thunder that followed rumbling across the city only seconds later. A glance to the clouds above told Nate that it'd soon be pouring with rain; the man tugged his hood up and wrapped his arms around his body. For possibly the first time since he'd left the institute all of those years ago, he was filled with a panic, a confusion. Only a few days before he'd been seen, something that normally wouldn't phase him, but this time there was something off. The guy who had seen him wasn't normal. It was as though he knew too much, could read him, and there was something strange about his entire form. Since Nathan had learnt about the existence of the monsters if children's nightmares, everything seemed to have changed.
Somehow he knew that this man was something odd - or at least knew something that regular people shouldn't. From across the gloomy park he saw someone approaching, the figure almost familiar now. Almost immediately his expression darkened, fingers tightening around his blade though he daren't pull it with so many nearby. Finally the sound of footsteps reached his ears as the rain began pattering down, steadily faster as the man grew closer.
"Good evening, Syd," Nate's words were spoken carefully, though not without their hint of venom. "Here, as I promised," He added, gaze meeting Syd's as he came to a stop opposite him. Despite his hood, Nathan's hair still clung to his forehead, damp from the rain - another thunder-clap sounded overhead, the flash a millisecond before lighting up his features.
