Octavia isn’t one to turn down the spotlight. However, she isn’t that fond of people seeing her face. You’ll just have to see one of her circus’s shows to see it…😈😈😈

This isn’t a fanart or the like of some preexisting IP. This is MY work alone. From the line work to the coloring, using Procreate. It’s just a brief three panel comic to give a little sneak peek for the Ring Master and the puppeteer of the Oddity Circus, both the circus and the anthology series. I’m just so glad to have finally completed this, after months of college!!!😄

I’ll admit, a part of Oddity Circus is inspired by the Devil’s Carnival. I feel like these two Ringmasters would fairly get along, with flirtatious banter often exchanged. Granted, Lucifer still would want those souls eventually released to go to his realm when feeling like Octavia had her fun long enough.

Also yes, I used Joker's quote from The Batman and hearing it helped envision this drawing.

If she wants you to see or remember her face, she’ll let you know. But perhaps, you don’t want to know. It’s not because her face is actually disfigured or gruesome. No, no, no, it means she wants you to specifically remember something, for as long as you live.

Only members of the circus can look directly at her face and remember what it looks like. Outsiders are unable to look directly into her eyes, and any details on her face is forgotten as soon as they look away. Any photographs with her face become blurred and distorted, almost smudged out. The only exception to this is artistic renditions such as paintings, which will keep her face normal and undistorted. However, that only gives her a way to look into everything from time to time. If she’s in a good mood, you’ll find that portrait of hers to be smiling in a way that crinkles the corners of the eyes. Although, for her to be in a bitter mood means a frown no matter what’s drawn.

What? You can’t expect her to wear all those outfits all the time could you? Oh wait, you’re probably wondering about the left arm. Well, long story short, she traded it as down payment when she and Ms. D sticker a deal. Why do you think she wears gloves all the time? Not only because they’re swanky but not to frighten the young poppets that come to her circus.

And just for some physical description: Octavia is 5”8 (5”11 with her usual boots). Long straight chocolate-brown hair, pale skin that seems the same color as a corpse, blue eyes like someone who’s been deceased for awhile, and a small and petite form. Her makeup usually consists of the ashes of one of her deceased sisters, blood mixed in with her usual lipstick, and makeup she sometimes borrows from Ms. D

The Oddity Circus

What is it?

The Oddity Circus is the name of my anthology horror/fantasy comic series. Think the likes of Creepshow or Tales from the Crypt, only the stories are framed by an enigmatic narrator/Ringmaster named Octavia Thornell. Sometimes, if not often, the stories she tells you to feature her circus members with lessons, themes, or morals to learn with the character who fails to heed the lesson meeting their come uppins with a twisted fate worse than just death.

On this blog, I will share current and early works of my concept art for the Oddity Circus mixed with my fan art. Hope this clears everything up.

Whatever you desire, whatever you command, the only limit being your imagination! But I warn you now... there's always a price when push comes to shove... Come one! Come all! 

Fall into our trap and you won't ever come back. Your greatest desire is out toll. For your wicked soul. You've made this tangled tapestry with your sins and crimes. Didn't you hear the warning bells ring and chime? Perhaps you were too distracted by the calliope's siren song. Or maybe, the fog of temptation made it so nothing seemed wrong. Welcome to eternity among the Circus' puppets, soon spirit you'll lack. I wouldn't bother running, no matter how high or low, you will be tracked.
