So here I am. Spending my lunch break at my doctor's office. To force them to call my pharmacy. So my pharmacy will give me the medicine I've been out for a week and suffering without. Because that's my job. That's my responsibility. Only if I want to continue living without being miserable and fucked up. Because apparently! These people!!! Completely ignore their phones! And you can't fucking leave a message because their FUCKING voicemail box is FULL. ALWAYS. Can you tell I'm a little irritated? I'm a little bit irritated.
To writers (female protagonists)
There’s a difference between showing vulnerability in your character and showing weakness. To be vulnerable is to open up, to peel off the armor, to reveal and take a chance with one’s heart on the line. This is not weakness; this takes strength.
Weakness is when another peels that armor off, whether she wants to or not. Weakness is knowing how to swing the sword but it’s suddenly too heavy whenever he is involved. Weakness is the heart changing colors on someone else’s command.
You can make your ladies vulnerable—and, ad rem, real—and still make them strong. Don’t let the optional love interest dismantle the complex character you built.
