RULE 1: ALWAYS POST THE RULES RULE 2: ANSWER THE QUESTIONS OF THE PERSON WHO TAGGED YOU AND WRITE 11 NEW ONES RULE 3: TAG 11 PEOPLE AND LINK THEM TO THE POST RULE 4: ACTUALLY TELL THEM YOU TAGGED THEM
1) If you could go back in time and bring back any book that is known to have existed but no copies currently survive, what book would you choose and why?
I don’t know any such books. It’s a toughie. Okay, I’ll bring back the commandments Moses smashed.
2) What is your favorite movie?
I love a lot of movies, but to pick a “favorite,” I’ll go with Edward Scissorhands.
3) Three goddesses show up one day on your doorstep. They have determined that you shall be the arbiter of who amongst them is the fairest. In exchange for your judgment, one offers you great power, one offers you great wisdom, and one offers you great beauty. Which do you choose, and why? And what do you think the outcome will be of your choice? (sorry, couldn’t help inserting a Trojan War reference)
If they’re Greek goddesses, I’ll be screwed over somehow. I will write an essay and submit it to them- there will be 3 sections with an equal amount of words explaining why each goddess counts as the fairest in a certain category. They’ll either be cool with that or smite me on the spot/some other terrible fate.
4) Poof! You’re given one week and sufficient funds to do any activity of your choosing anywhere in the world. What do you do?
Tour Europe yo. If time allows, between sight-seeing and cuisine-trying and lavishing-money-on-fancy-hotels, I’ll produce a movie, a good film that wins the academy. My conscience tells me I should also start a shelter program for the needy and provide it with enough funds on the spot to last multiple lifetimes, and probably donate a bunch of money to health research.
5) What are your biggest sources of inspiration and creativity?
Musicals, books, animation, films, and classic/modern art.
6) If you could interview any historical figure, living or dead, who would you interview and what would be one question that you would ask them?
Montaigne. I’d ask him how he’d feel about spending a day with me- we’d have meals together and talk about life and art and all that fun stuff.
7) Maria loves raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens. What are some of your favorite things?
Along that line, I enjoy the sound of rain when I’m safe and happy in bed, that strange twilight sensation when I wake up from jetlag at 3 AM, the shining sun on a lazy summer afternoon where everything’s still and you can breathe like time lasts forever. Also anything of the 19th century European variety- my love for it borders on fetishization.
8) What is your favorite headcanon in any story that you enjoy?
Urgh, this is a hard one. Headcanons? I have lots of favorites, but a personal one that I keep to myself is this: in Phantom of the Opera, no matter which version, Erik has a massive sweet tooth. He bought Madame Giry those truffles because he thought they tasted good. I think it’s a delicious bout of irony- someone like Erik should like salty, bitter things but he likes sweets, a childish, pure sentiment that was never sullied.
9) Top three favorite musicals/plays?
Bat Boy the Musical, Phantom of the Opera, and The Butterfly Lovers (a mandarin musical movie). I generally love any musical though.
10) Top three favorite cities, and favorite features about each?
Not in order: Taipei- travel’s convenient, subway rocks, lots of fun restaurants to go to, the hubub of everything that swings by, New York- broadway, the museums (MOMA and the Metropolitan are drugs to me), the fun of it all, Florence- the museums, the history, the architecture.
11) Who put the bop in the bop shoo bop? ;)
A man named Sir Bop of Shoo of Bopshire.
