LOOK, i think I ship them a LOT more towards modern era but, I still get why alexander fell for her -- like, she was helpless and that was ALWAYS a THING for him. I don’t really like his treatment of her in canon -- NO not at all but, I think a part of him truly cared for her. He WAS the worst thing to happen to her but, in my mind? She was the kind of woman who was his equal in a LOT of ways. SO, in a LOT of ways I DO ship it but, it has to be in selective eras & done in a certain way.

Lafayette had never met her personally, but, upon finding out that he would be walking her down the aisle at the wedding of Alexander and her sister, he felt as if it was important to at least introduce himself. Not that he wasn’t afraid of knocking at the door to the Schuyler home and having to explain himself, but he didn’t want it to be awkward and uncomfortable for the two of them that whole night. And that is how Lafayette found himself on Philip Schuyler’s doorstep, hands locked behind his back after rapping his knuckles against the door. I am here for Peggy - no, not Peggy, Alexander had given him her full name, as well... Margarita. That was it. No, sir, I am not here to ask for her hand in marriage, although I am sure she is a wonderful woman. Lafayette already had a whole speech planned out, he was not the type to go into something blind, especially when that something could very easily be Philip Schuyler opening that door.

susan adores when aunt peggy comes over... calls her mama too every so o ften and a flustered maria just apologizing to peggy like, ‘she does that to everyone don’t worry about it” peggy kisses her cheek reassures her it’s fine maria needs to lay down for hours bc no it isn’t

l isten peggy comes over at random hours, she has her own key & everything is wonderful but maria is sitting in her corner just. completely in love with the essence of the sun.
