— It was a nice, sunny day today. The weather was just perfect for even Erika to feel refreshed so early in the morning as the sun cast its warmth on Kanto and for her to follow some errands from her mother outside of Celadon City. While not often did she leave the city, staying in the gym or studying alongside her tutors back at home, her graceful strides had lead the way east, passing Saffron and to Lavender Town.
Though she had her own tasks once she had successfully completed said task of visiting the Pokemon Tower and then buying a few items in Saffron returning on the way back home, she didn’t expect to be distracted by a rustle of grass nearby in Route 8.
At first, she had payed no mind to the soft sound, after all, it could’ve just been the light breeze that drafted through the short route. So, she had kept on walking across the path, yet the same rustle had caught her attention and her gaze focused on the grassy patch, fenced off and neatly cornered in an area where it didn’t merge with the path. Nothing had seemed off, it was just a calm view of the tall grass swaying in the light breeze and taking in the warmth of the sun.
But once Erika had spotted it, she had soon rushed to it with concern.
Tucked away in the very far corners of the fence was a small Vulpix, its red fur creating drastic contrast with the surrounding green; yet no one had spotted the Pokemon until she had, it seemed. Though Vulpix was sometimes seen in the area, something about this certain one was just not right. Other than the injuries that scattered its body from place to place ( thank goodness none of them had seemed too deep or life threatening ), its fur was sleek and clean as if a trainer had taken care of it dearly and had left it in the wild, or had strayed far from its trainer and had gotten lost.
And though she wasn’t very fond of fire type Pokemon in general, leaving it unattended would surely make things worse. Perhaps by bringing it to the nearest Pokemon Center, she would have some clue as to whom the Vulpix was owned by or at the very least get its injuries taken care of before letting them free.
It had taken a lot of coaxing, but once Erika had picked up the fragile Pokemon up in her arms - it really did seem as if it was abandoned out in the wild or had gotten lost, poor thing - turning around with them in her hands, she had come face to face with a man who’s face seemed familiar, yet she couldn’t exactly tell who it was.
「 Ah... I’m sorry, is this Pokemon... yours, by perchance ?? 」
A simple question but hopefully somewhere that would lead her somewhere. It did seem like the other knew the Vulpix’s situation so it wasn’t wrong to assume they were the caretaker of the pokemon or knew who it belonged to, right...?
