“ Do I look lonely? I see the shadows on my face. ”
On second thought, don’t ask something like that, he remembers. Don’t ask those questions because he knows he’s not going to like the answer they give. Regardless it’s already left his mouth and before the girl could answer, more words are spilling from his lips in attempt to catch himself from falling but it’s far too late.
“ People have told me I don't look the same-- maybe I lost weight. ”
Which is probably true. Robin knows he’s skipped too many meals to count and he’s lost days in his room trying to figure out the next plan of attack or upgrading the defense systems without Cyborg’s help. Mainly trying to figure Slade out. Much of his paraphenalia littered the boy wonder’s room and the obsession came crawling from the shadows in a terrifying attempt to choke him and it’s working.
“ I'm playing hooky... with the best of the best. ”
Not exactly hooky, but Robin knows he’s run off many times without his team to track down Slade. Any movement he found on the man made the boy see red-- and he damn well knew he was going to take him down before his friends were hurt anymore than they had been. He was drowning in a sea of paranoia and lies and he actually preferred it that way. Despite drowning he was floating on a wave of adrenaline-- dragging him down ripping at his chest and forced him to slow down and make rash decisions but damn did he love the exhilaration the chase brought.
