Working from home today and Boo comes stomping down the stairs yell singing this song. At least she knows how to spell bananas now. 😳 This kid... The other day we found out she knows the lyrics to several Ghost songs by heart during a "concert" she was putting on for her stuffies. She's five, and we hear this cute little voice yelling, "Are you on the square? Are you on the level?" and all the devil bits. Then this morning it's "this shit is bananas! B a n a n a s!" And now, as a parent, I am mortified about her singing this shit at school. 😂 Thankfully Lamb is starting to fall into the "you guys are weird" phase and is developing his own taste in music. Lol.
Some knucklehead decided to make biscuits and gravy from scratch with the kids this morning.
So Boo(5) is currently in the bathtub doing a black metal rendition of Spice Up Your Life by the Spice Girls... My partner and Lamb(8) are backing her up with blast beats on the counter and maniacal laughter.
It's officially the time of year I both love and dread the most. As a parent, I love seeing my children's excitement rise as we rapidly approach the holiday season. That excitement is something I can just vaguely remember, though I am now starting to slowly feel it again thanks to my littles, a feeling that gets stronger with each passing year. As my partner and I have worked hard to build new traditions for our family, I have had to break through some hefty past traumas related to this time of year and have had to force myself to be present, hard as it may be. This time of year was a very dark place for me from ages 10-21. I think I've come pretty far all things considered though.
Our kids really do have a way with bringing light to this world.
My daughter was just watching me take my makeup off, and about half way through scrubbing all the crap off my face, she gets all up in my space and climbs onto the vanity.
Boo rummaging through my makeup case: Baba, why do you wear so much makeup?
Me: Because I like it.
B: But why?
Me: I just like the way it makes me look.
B: Pretty?
Me: Pretty spooky.
B: I think you're spookier without makeup.
Me: 😐😑 Thanks, B.
Boo then proceeds to hop off the vanity and leave the room singing the Addams family theme song but with our last name filled in...
🙃 Kids... I tell you...
Our youngest turns five tomorrow... I am not ok right now. Just tucked her into bed, and as I kissed her goodnight, she said, "Baba, I want to stay four. I'm going to miss being four." 😭
My kids some how managed to sneak up on me while I was meditating... I love them. I really do, but my heart can't handle these little spooks. Pretty sure they're trying to put me in an early grave at this point.
