Podman Rush - Ep. A Big Week Ahead

I like to take cookies to work, especially when I’m experimenting with new flavors (last week was strawberry rose cookies).

When one of my coworkers has a birthday I ask if they have a request.

This one kid has the strangest flavor ideas because he has no understanding of baking, just things he likes. I love that his requests make me have to sit down and think how would I do that?

This year’s birthday request is:

Root Beer Cookies

So I’m making a molasses cookie base and put root beer flavored drink mix powder in with the flour. I’m also crushing up root beer barrel hard candies to see if they melt and re-harden like toffee (the hard Werthers are great for this) or maybe I can roll the cookie in the hard candy powder after I crunch them up - like a sugar coating.

So far the dough tastes… good? Unexpectedly good. I legit did not expect it to taste so much like root beer. My tongue is confused because this root beer is solid not liquid.

Will report back once they bake.
