kind of reminds me of when I was living at my Grandpa's and someone knocked on the door as soon as I got up and it turns out to be this construction worker of one kind or another (there was a project going on, lots of different people)

and so I'm just answering the door half asleep in pajama's.

I respect your right to have an opinion. I'm just letting you know something you're probably already aware of, it will offend others. I'm on the whole boat where I roll my eyes when others get offended by these things, but I'm aware of those who are insecure about stretchmarks and weight because I used to be in that boat.

I am one person. I don't believe my opinions hold that much weight.

Well, I'm just big on body positivity. To be honest, it's not the fact that I care what you think, it's the fact I know others do. You could call me the ugliest shit in the world, and I couldn't care less. However, I know others are more sensitive than I am. I have a pretty thick skin, you gotta have one to pursue the career I am trying to pursue. But I am just sharing my moral code with you. Opinions that are offensive are best kept to yourself.

Body positivity is okay, yes. However, if one hears only praise and never negative, things get a little skewed. Now I'm not saying that people deserve to be torn apart for something they can't necessary help, but no matter what you say, somebody's going to find it offensive. As long as people aren't being rude about it (which as far as I can tell, I was not. My wording could have been a lot worse.) they should be able to say these sorts of things, within reason anyway.

Sometimes though, people will never know that their opinion is necessarily harmful if they never get feedback on it. This whole thing about never sharing opinions unless it's 100% positive is getting a little silly. It's all about balance.

Just though I'd say I respect your opinion, however, it still isn't very kind to say you don't like stretchmarks. Some people are insecure about them. I know I was. When I was going through depression and gained weight, I had blood red stretch marks and I refused to let anyone see any bare skin on me. Now I think my skin is beautiful and my stretchmarks have lightened as I lost weight, but seeing your tag on that post made me flinch. It's best to keep things like that to yourself.

It's not very kind, but I am entitled to it. Am I going to go up to someone and say I don't like their stretch marks? No, I'm not. I put it in my tag because I want to express myself, but in a less direct away. Just as people can express their like for things, I should be able to express what my preferences are, correct?

Again, not going around pointing out these sorts of things and I never will. It wouldn't be the first time I've said I don't like something that post after post after post on this site has tried to force me into believing is beautiful when I just can't.
