It has been a pleasure to be part of PM's delegation to Vietnam with SMS Maliki and MP Intan. We were all wearing a badge with 🇸🇬 and 🇻🇳. Minister Chan Chun Sing was then occupied with a Vietnamese Minister who came to the hotel to send PM off. We are now all back in Singapore. #PMVietnamtrip #officialduty #hanoi

PM met Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, Chairperson of The National Assembly of Vietnam (counterpart to the Speaker of our Parliament). The National Assembly has 498 members elected to a five-year term, and meets twice a year. The magnificent building was just completed in 2014. #PMVietnamtrip #officialduty #hanoi🇻🇳

PM laid a wreath at Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum. The delegation went in to pay our respects to this key leader who was instrumental to the founding of Vietnam. His embalmed body is laid in the mausoleum on public display. #PMVietnamtrip #officialduty #hochiminhmausoleum #hanoi

Today marks the 2nd anniversary of Mr Lee Kuan Yew’s passing. I had the privilege to launch the Vietnamese versions of Mr Lee’s books during PM's official visit to Vietnam. Mr Lee's books hold many important lessons for us and I am grateful that future generations will be able to learn about Singapore's history through them. I also had the fortune of being in Mr Lee's Tanjong Pagar GRC team during the first five years of my political journey, and learning from him in that capacity. Mr Lee Kuan Yew laid the foundation of our strong bilateral ties with Vietnam.
