"going offline" is wholly sanctimonious. if you're not generating an rss feed, you're injuring your soul. your friends need to read your posts.

The Some Times
My newsletter zine is finally ready! I've been working on this project for months after vaguely toying with the idea for years, and now I'm proud to announce Issue 0, a sample of what sort of content to expect in the coming months.
In every issue.I will write a number of short articles on various topics of art and science with charts and photos and drawings. Expect 2 to 6 pages per issue (1 to 3 double-sided sheets).
There's a slight formatting error with the page number header (it should span the whole top of the page, not be jumbled up on the left), and the photos are a bit too dark, but I can fix those pretty easily before Issue 1. Otherwise, it's perfect.
This sample was printed on white paper, but going forward I'd like to use colored paper to make it less visibly harsh on the eyes. I'm thinking light blue or light purple, maybe a different color each month if I can get a good deal at Staples or Office Depot.
I've already had a few people reach out and express interest in subscribing, and I'm gonna check my PO Box later today to see if I've gotten any takers yet. It's free! Just mail a letter to

My inbox is always open for questions, suggestions, submissions, photos, drawings, writing, etc. I want this to be a community affair. I'm trying to unplug as much as possible this year, and this is a good first step.
All subscriptions I receive which are postmarked before February 1 will be added to January's mailing list, and I will send you Issue 1 shortly thereafter. From then on, new issues will be printed on the 13th of each month and mailed out the following week. Subscriptions postmarked before the 13th will receive that month's issue; after the 13th, they will start receiving issues the following month.
My short term goal is to publish 12 issues, one every month this year, but in the long term I would like to keep publishing The Some Times indefinitely.
Right now I'm only open to subscribers in the United States, but if this project gets some real traction I'll look into getting a book of international forever stamps and expanding. Baby steps, I can't be putting the cart before the horse.
I'm really excited to finally see this project through, and I hope you all enjoy reading it. Spread the word!
