Friends up in Heaven Onside
Avery was at her wits end. She’d been searching for weeks on a way to get to heaven, to get to Michael. That angelic arse-hole had to go. In frustration she kicked the curb, it hurt her foot but the pavement suffered more. She sat heavily with her face in her hands. It was never gonna happen. She’d never get him.
Michael sat by her, a hand on the ground, the other at her shoulder,
“Avery, let’s just give it up. We’re never gonna get anywhere. It’s over, we need to move on.” He tried to reason.
Avery didn’t care, he had to die! She slammed a fist into the ground, splintering the concrete.
“Hoo boy! What the ground ever do to you pretty lady?” a voice called from a nearby ally.
The pair stiffened as a new figure came into view. He was… Oddly dressed, that’s for sure. Jeans, a long sleeved top and white hair sticking out from a top hat emblazed with a monocle.
He approached the pair, whipped off the hat and bowed. Snapping up and handing over a card to Avery.
“A tip of the hat from Graphmedgondrux. Aider, extraordinaire.” he winked, the card said the same, “Now if I were a gambling man, and I am on occasion, I’d wager you need to get to Heaven? Ehh dear?” he asked, sitting by Avery who looked up, both suspicion and hope on her face.
“Maybe.” She said finally.
“Well, perhaps I can help. It’s my thing, everybody knows it.” he smiled charmingly.
“How?” she asked.
“Avery, come away.” Michael pulled her up and tried to move them away, “This kids trouble let’s just find somewhere quiet and-”
“Don’t you disrespect me Harpy-Boy!” Graphua interrupted, jumping ahead of the pair, “Don’t be negative, or not nice,” he hissed playfully, “You need my help now, yes my help. And I’ve got friends up in Heaven onside.” He tapped the door of a nearby building, causing it to open.
‘He’s got friends up in Heaven onsiiiiide.’ A disembodied voice sang out of the building.
“That’s my echo, dear friends don’t worry. Just a little thing I do, a little welcoming don’t worry.” He pushed them in and shut the door.
“Sit down at my table, put your wings at ease, you relaxing will enable me to do, anything I please.
I can see your future, I can fix it up some too. I’ll look deep into your heart and mind, you do have a mind don’t ya Michael?” he teased, jumping on the table,
“And make your every dream come to.
I’ve got tricks and I got traps and I got shit I ain’t even tried! And I’ve friends, up in heaven on side.”
‘He’s got friends up in Heaven onsiiiiide.’ Echoed again, unnerving the now sat pair.
He grinned and sat across them, pulling out a deck of tarot cards,
“My cards, my cards, my cards will tell. Your dreams, your fears and your future as well.” He shuffled them dramatically, floating them into the air, “My cards, my cards, just take three,” he offered them out, “Share everything you’ve ever wanted with me.”
He looked at the cards each had picked, rubbing his chin, before turning to Avery,
“Now you my dear are in love I see. He’s an angel of the lord, pity.” He smirked, “You wanting to off their leader and all.
Your aim is high! But your strength is low. You only need a boost in power and you’re ready to go.” He leaned back, “Ice the leader, get with the hot one? That about right?”
“In a nutshell,” she deadpanned.
“So, you need to get to heaven, but heavens locked up tight, tighter than hell for sure, what you need… is grace. It’s the grace, it’s the grace, it’s the grace you need. And when I look into your future it’s the grace that I see.” He flipped a card, showing Avery in heaven with Bara. She couldn’t not smile at the image.
Graphua turned to Michael, looking at him with disdain.
“On you Harpy Boy I don’t wanna waste much time, you’ve been moping all your life. You were moping in creation, growing up, hell all occasions. And if you found true love?” he paused,
Michael looked up happily,
“You’d just mope around your love.” He chucked.
Michaels face fell and Avery stifled a giggle.
“But in your future, the you I see,” he said dramatically, “Is a normal you, who you’ll find is mope-free.”
He turned over the card, it showed Michael, normal and happy complete with a family.
Graphua stood and walked to the pair, holding out his hands,
“Care to shake gang?” they hesitated.
“C’mon won’t you shake, little ol’Graphy’s hand?” he pushed, a dark grin on his face.
Michael grabbed and shook, unable to resist. Avery did too, immediately regretting it.
“Yes.” Graphua said, the room immediately turning dark. Full of power.
“Are you ready?” Graphua flew away, making hand gestures, calling forth creatures, snakes, which bound the pair to their chairs.
“Are you ready?
Transformation central! Wing removal central! Angelic possession central!” he yelled, a bright light descended and Michael howled in pain and the creatures tore off his wings.
The light descended to Avery who was yelling and trying to get away.
“You’re changing, you’re changing, you’re dreams coming true. I hope you’re satisfied. But if you ain’t? Don’t blame me. You can blame my friends up in heaven onside!” He yelled, all the power coming together and he laughed through it all.
“You got what you wanted.
But you lost what you needed.”
Graphua moved close, “Hush!”
Everything went black.
