Offset Coffee Roasters, 150 Pacific Coast Hwy Ste. B, El Segundo, CA 90245
I was looking for a place close to LAX and Offset checked all the boxes: easy parking, free wi-fi, indoor seating, food, good coffee. Offset is a South Bay coffee roaster. The El Segundo café was small and 1/3 of it was dedicated to the in-house roasting. There were only five small two-top tables inside but more picnic style seating outside.
For drinks, they had drip coffee, espresso drinks, espresso tonic, cold brew, ceremonial matcha, tea, horchata, and even einspanner. Milk choices: whole, oat, almond. They do not have pour over coffee.
Pastries come from Rockenwager. They only had chocolate chip cookies and croissants left when I visited. There is a food menu too. It includes toasts and breakfast biscuits. The toasts are made to order.
Avocado toast ($13): smashed avocado, cherry tomato, lemon, olive oil, microgreens, and chili flakes on sourdough. It was a good size toast. The bread was thickly cut and soft. I prefer a denser, chewier bread for avocado toast. The ingredients were fresh but the microgreens fell off and the mash seemed underseasoned. Good ingredients but average taste.
Flat white ($5): excellent foam art, balanced, flavorful, not bitter.
The parking lot had a few spaces for pickup but the other spaces didn’t have time limits. It is a small café and it does attract campers. They sell coffee beans and merch.
