He had to be injured aboard the ship. Idiot. When he’d returned home after his quest, arm and shoulder completely bandaged, she’d been livid. And, well, worried. Which manifested in anger. She damn near injured his other arm. It was the first real glimpse she’d had of the possibility that she could lose him. And that was...that was not possible. That could not happen.
But she wasn’t about to shut him out, not when he was hurting. Emma wasn’t that much of a brat. Which is what found them in this spot, among suds and warm water in her luxurious tub. She ran the sponge along his back, scrubbing away the grime of living on a ship for an extended period of time. Emma did her best to avoid the wound, delivering kisses to his body any time she saw him tense up in pain.
Fingers worked soap gently into his hair, and Emma smiled from over his shoulder. “If anyone knocks, I’m ducking you under the water. So, it’s a good thing you know how to swim.” It’s not like people exactly knew that this was what they were doing, when they excused themselves to catch up after being apart for so long. But she was sure that no one (especially her father) was anticipating this.

“Mmm.” She can’t help the little moan that escapes her, as best as she tries to hide it, when she finds herself pressed up against the Lieutenant in their own secret corner of the palace gardens. When she feels him already straining in his breeches. She’d much prefer to do this in her room, if she were honest. But pressed up against some crawling vines with butterflies circling their heads was alright too.
He’d been doing such a great job, always playing the part of the dutiful Lieutenant. Her parents had no clue how close her and Killian really were. The urge to tell them grew stronger and stronger every day. She wanted to be able to be with him without the hiding and the sneaking. But they were biding their time. For the right moment. Whenever that was to be.
Emma giggled, tugging on the hair at the nape of his neck. She could see the resolve in his eyes wavering, a losing battle from the start. “Well my parents aren’t here.” She trapped his lips in a kiss once again, pulling back and speaking low, eyes half lidded and voice seductively smooth. “So you can be on your worst behavior.”
“You’re the only friend I’ve made in ten years.”
“Well, you need to lighten up.” The Princess was well past the point of feeling comfortable about being candid with the Lieutenant. She...trusted him. Maybe. Emma twirled a flower picked from the grassy meadow between her fingers before tossing it aside and throwing herself down into the soft grass. “Life isn’t all about rules and regulations, Killian.”

First Christmas since Killian's accident. Emma felt like things might be starting to calm down on his end, but it was hard to really tell when she was constantly being pulled away from him--- Which was why Emma wouldn't stand to spend Christmas away. Getting a flight back was a pain, reason why she got to Killian's place so late. Hopefully, she thought while her finger pressed the doorbell, he's not asleep yet.

“Hey, try this.” A fork shot out towards Killian’s mouth, full of stuffing in the making. As Emma stressed over the stove and the various pots strewn about, she wondered what in the world possessed her to volunteer to do some of the cooking for dinner. “Tell me it’s not burnt, tell me it’s not burnt...”
❝ i thought we had an agreement not to lie to each other. ❞
“I couldn’t tell you the truth about this! You would have reacted just like you are now. I had it under control, too. If you hadn’t freed Zelena this would all be over.“
❝ whatever breaks you .❞
“ Killian, please. This isn’t you. Think about what you’re saying. I’m trying ---- I’ve been trying to fix this. Don’t make this any harder than it needs to be. ”
