Spiritual Awareness [Ichigo & Ikumi] - Part 1

cc-ichigo-kurosaki: "I'm heading out to take my break now, see you in a bit!" Ichigo excused himself from the Unagiya Shop, sneaking out to deal with a hollow he got notified of through his Substitute Shinigami combat pass in his pocket. // to Ikumi!

“Huh?” The shopkeep turns, opening her mouth to speak up again, but the door had already swung shut. Ikumi furrows her brow. He’d seemed in quite a rush to leave, and normally she wouldn’t worry too much - but with things she’d been hearing and seeing around town lately, she couldn’t help feeling a little concerned for his welfare. Thankfully things were dead in the shop at this time, and her son was already sleeping.

Stepping outside, she watches as her employee heads off down the street. Perhaps her maternal instinct was just making her worry about nothing, but she wanted to be sure. She begins to follow, but keeps her distance.

Usually, Ichigo would leave it to the others around Karakura Town like Ishida, but the fact that he was getting alerts from his combat badge, it meant there were more hollows than they could handle. Maybe it had something to do with him regaining his Shinigami powers, who knows, either way, he would be on the scene faster than waiting for someone else to deal with it.

“Alright, this should be quick, no funny business, got it Kon?” Finding a good bush to hide his lifeless body so Kon can take over and keep a low profile, Ichigo rushed off the deal with the hollow further down the street.

Ikumi raises a brow upon reading the note passed to her before scoffing faintly. “Huh? Is this some kind of prank? What’s gonna happen if I turn around, someone gonna jump at me?”

She doesn’t wait for a response, and turns around anyway. She has a fearless image to uphold!

Aha! His moment of opportunity! As she turns away, he directs a frantic beckoning gesture off-stage, so she completely misses the rapid movement which takes place behind his back. Almost as soon as it begins it’s over; when she turns back to face him, she’ll behold nothing more than the visage of one shady shopkeeper, hands nonchalantly stowed in his pockets.

 “Apologies if I’ve alarmed you,” he responds with cultivated innocence. “I’m sorry to disappoint, but there’s nothing to see. Nothing at all!”

“—It simply seemed like good business advice, you know? Never show your back to a potential client.”

Hanataro was in charge of treating Hinamori wounds for the time being. his gaze met hers as he notice that Hinamori regain consciousness. Letting out a sigh of relief that she was okay- for the most part despite her injuries. “You are in the fourth division..” He explained softly. Unware if that what was she was trying to ask or not. 

“How do you feel..?” He asked. Wondering if he needed to get better pain meds for the injuries that he treated or if she was alright for the time being.

By now, Momo had recovered enough to receive visitors whilst she was awake. A few had visited her so far, namely those closest to her, but she was somewhat surprised when a researcher from the S.R.D.I came to see her. Turning her head to glance towards the other, she blinks before offering a weak smile.

“Is there... Something you need?” She inquires. Naturally she assumed that the researchers needed something from her, or that they had come to talk to her about some new kind of treatment.

The bespectacled scientist was driven more by a need for personal satisfaction and reassurance than any sort of scientific inquiry in her visit to the Fourth Division’s healing quarters. She had gotten her fair share of awkward stares from the Shinigami she passed by. After all, when was the last time they had seen a member of the S.R.D.I out and about, and appearing as if in a hurry like Niko did? She did not think about it as she briskly walked the halls and only entertained the notion once she was reluctantly directed to the quarters of Lieutenant Momo Hinamori who had recently faced injury after injury-- first, in her scuffle against Captain Hitsugaya, and the latest yet most tragic one, the betrayal of Captain Aizen. She reckoned that the lieutenant would have a fair sense of surprise at the sight of a Twelfth Division member of all people. 

Niko anxiously waited for the unconscious Lieutenant to return to her senses and when she did, Niko straightened-- tensed even as she pressed her lips against each other, meeting the other’s faint gaze with her own. Her cyan hues told of numerous questions that struggled to leave yet could not. 

“Lieutenant Hinamori,” Niko started tentatively, testing the waters with the softness of her tone. “I’m Kuna. Niko Kuna of the Twelfth Division's S.R.D.I. I apologize if my visit came as a surprise, however, there is something that has been bothering me for a long time and I believe that you are the only person who can truly answer my questions.”

Hanataro only flinched a bit upon hearing Hinamori voice. “a-ah hello hinamori-fukutaichou.” Turning to face her a small smile formed on his face as he glance back up to the sky. “Oh- yea. They really are. I love clear n-nights like this.” He admitted. “D-do you like star gazing, Hinamori-fukutaichou?” He asked curious of her answer.
