I was rereading the Faerie Ring--closed the tab, that's probably not the title, but you know the one--and man. I know the Faerie Courts, at least in YA novels, set up this weird false divide between "good" and "bad" and have, as such, become arbitrary and overused vehicles which no longer reflect their original purpose, but En Dwi in that fic is such a Summer Court mood. I'd love to see Tivan as his mirror for the Winter Court! Maybe not in fic. Still, could you share some HC's to that effect?
ah, sorry, I really don’t know anything about the Seelie or Unseelie courts, like... at all - most of the classification lore I know is based off the tylwth teg, the Welsh fae, or the sidhe, the Irish ones (idk the proper name is aos sí i think)
in the Welsh mythos we separate them into like, specific classifications based on what they are - like, the difference between little goblins and between water spirits, for example, and we have specific names for faeries in Welsh and Irish both, but there’s no idea of a uniting court separated into two sides
maybe it’s my anti-English sentiment, but the Seelie/Unseelie divide always struck me as a little arbitrary - even if it’s not strictly “good” and “bad”, the concept of “mischievous” v. “nasty” faeries isn’t a dichotomy i’d know much about how to portray, I guess
all faeries are equally bad and terrible BUT
idk, i think that the interesting thing in regard to any faerie characterisation is when you’re examining that genuine threat of the power they command, whether it’s specific to their environment or not, v. the rules they keep, and how much you’re actually aware of those rules and how to use them to your advantage
and i think that’d be a very scary thing with tivan specifically, because unlike en dwi, he isn’t out to party, he isn’t out for a good time - he’s here for one thing specifically, and you don’t know what it is, but it’s implied he’ll do anything to get it, and he seems Very Cold
