It was surprising, really, that David had never been to New York before now. After all his moves from facility to facility, you’d think he’d have wound up there eventually. But nope. And now he’d brought his family there, and he was curious. About the people, the city, the powered. Because he sensed their minds, their powers glowing like jewels inside their skulls, and he wanted to get to know them. Besides the people at Summerland (traitors -- siding with Farouk -- they had their chance --) he’d never met another person like him. So, when he sensed something new, something more powerful than anything he’d felt before, besides the Shadow King, he decided to investigate.
So, he left his family (be good girls now, all of you) and teleported away, to where this person was, this stranger, whose presence he could feel from miles away. And, as he approached the other man, he felt that power radiating again. He raised his hands a little in a parody of surrender, to show he meant no harm, and smiled at him. He sent out his thoughts, gentle and soft: Hello. My name’s David. I hope you don’t mind the intrusion. He lowered his hands and spoke out loud, in that same quiet and calm voice, “I’m new to the area. Figured I’d introduce myself.”
