          THEY HAVE FOUGHT TOOTH AND NAIL TO GET HERE. It’s taken them months to fight their way through the Cabal and find home again within the tower. It is broken in places, charred and ugly from the war but it is home once more. A home that Taasi knows she will never for the rest of her life take for granted. It’s almost hard to fall back into the ways of things, to not be on edge at every given moment waiting for another attack. Even with their defenses fortified and stronger than ever it is hard to sleep soundly. 

         Today marks the first time of feeling moderately alright. The people of the city are safe, the Traveler is safe, they are safe. The Awoken had made her way down to the hanger in search of her friend and she is glad to find her. Taasi comes up and is happy to see the young woman eager to get back to the normal. She squares her fists and tells Taasi they should spar, get their blood flowing before they make a patrol around the edge of the city like they’ve been doing as of late. Taasi only laughs at the goading call, gently allowing her ghost to flutter away before she raises her fists up too.

          for the first time in months, taasi smiles. it’s nothing grand, but it’s there, small and pleased. just like the laugh that bubbles up out of her throat. she steps gently onto the edge of the docking where her friend, where her fireteam, has chosen to sit to watch the celebrations in the city below. it is good to see their people safe again, guardians with the light. it feels good.
