She was drowning. Between flickers of consciousness, this was all she could discern; water, darkness, and a chilling sensation enough to make her body numb. She'd never been much of a swimmer, with legs like those, and being dragged down by whatever current she'd gotten into was making her return to the surface impossible. The feeling of water filling her lungs was enough to jolt her awake, though she'd rather have been left unaware. The huntress closed her eyes tightly and attempted to relax her muscles, hoping her death would be swift.
By the time she was yanked out of the water, she'd completely blacked out.Neither the hands pushing down on her chest nor the voices trying desperately to wake her had any effect on her. The kiss, however, was another story.Feeling sudden warmth against her lips got her system going, her body desperate to give something in return. Half-awake, her tongue lazily slipped into the stranger's mouth...
...As she regurgitated quite a bit of water into it as well. Soon she was on her side, coughing and sputtering, as the tall, horned man rubbed her back and attempted to swaddle her in a large blanket carried over by a few concerned onlookers.
She fell asleep in her savior's arms, giving into exhaustion.
