“You may want to move two down.” It was a rarity that she decided to join the masses at the bar, but sometimes even her soul seemed to ache for the familiar pangs of companionship: even if those companions seemed more scared than comforted by her presence. “Or else they’ll think you want to talk to me or you’ll be in distress in ten minutes.” A grin that landed somewhere between amused and cruel. “Curse of the town urban legend, I’m afraid.”

“It’s not real.” He was lying through his teeth but mostly because he hated the small signs of wealth that were still dripping from his wardrobe, heartbreaking reminders of parents that never loved him. The watch though, that was real Versace, and the heartbreak had come from a boy who engraved the poignant words on the back of it, the ones he’d hesitate to share. A finger tapped the glass of the time piece. “One thing I miss about New York, you really did get top tier knock offs from the trunk of some very nice man’s Honda Civic.” A more mischievous grin.

Nic is usually overconfident in her ability to pull back on commitments, but there is always an exception to every rule. She wouldn’t tell Reina that perhaps she was right about Guin, but instead, felt that pull like the moth to a flame. An almost invited kind of helplessness, which explained why shoulder found the doorframe of her classroom, clearing her throat loud enough to announce her presence. “Heard you needed some help setting up for some project, Ms. Fisher.” Rocking on her feet as if she were merely a helping hand. “At your service.”

“It’s cheaper than therapy.” The words were said in such a roundabout sort of way, that it almost seemed like he wasn’t actually serious about them. However, that was contradicted by the way that he flipped the aluminum baseball bat in his band, tossed it longways, and caught it again, before tapping it against the tip of his boot. “Watch, and tell me the shit doesn’t just make you feel better.” He said it and didn’t give time for an answer, the bat picked up, centered, and he stepped into a swing that shattered the windshield of the car he’d been standing in front of. It’s not like it mattered, someone had abandoned it out here a long time ago.
He stopped, stepped back, and flipped the bat again, leaving the handle outstretched to them like the deviants invitation that it was. “Repeat the process.”
Apollo was not exactly well known for his tact when it came to certain things, and this was one of them. Impatience had hands shoved in pockets, determined not to fidget, as bright eyes paid all the attention in the world. In fact, it was like the person in front of them was the last possible human on the planet. “Can you fix it or not?” He finally asked, after clearing his throat. “All I’m saying.” A finger pointed as if that would lend some kind of credence to the ridiculous shit she was about to say, all whilst trying to maintain a serious face. “Is that I feel strongly that twat swat should be the alternate ending for cockblock. Perhaps it wasn’t the kindest commentary, but one she felt needed to be made. A fork was pointed at the so called meal in front of her, before poking it like it was a dead animal rather than potential sustenance. “You know, I am starting to think Prison, for the bullshit establishment it is, gets better food than this, and honestly.” She rolled her eyes. “It doesn’t surprise me.” @ofmcthman
