Nolan didn’t really know what he was expecting when he came home but he sort of expected something other than the awkwardness that had settled. He more and more had thoughts wondering if it was a mistake to come home. He had been spending more time getting to know Kaiden and fixing things up around the house. When he finally spotted her. “You know, you should let me take you on a date. Maybe we can find our spark and our way back.” Nolan still loved her that hadn’t changed but he had changed, she had changed they had changed because of their experiences. “I promise this time we won’t have a baby on the way after a good date.” He tried to joke as he looked down at their son. “Sorry bud you’re cute but a handful.” He loved every minute of it though.

         ‘   don’t   apologize,   ’   she   returns   …   while   digits   grapple   at   her   own   folder.   evening   plans   canceled   prior   to   the   firm   closing,   as   she   recalls   the   long   message   received   by   her   blind   date.   ‘   besides,   I   would   rather   be   here   than   you   know   at   rojo’s   pizzeria   on   a   blind   date,   ’   sarcasm   oozing   from   each   word,   as   a   smirk   plays   at   her   lips.   sitting   at   the   desk   adjacent   to   the   others.   umber   hues   look   up   to   her   partner,   ‘   but,   the   question   is,   ’   gaze   resting   on   the   other,   ‘   did   you   have   somewhere   to   be   tonight   ?   ’      their   little   conniption   making   it   evident   that   there   was   something   more.  

       “   a   blind   date   ?   ”   the   older   woman   echoes   ,   arching   a   sculpted   brow.   “   how’d   you   manage   that   ?   ”   she’s   not   sure   she   could   ever   agree   to   a   blind   date──not   because   she’s   particularly   shallow   ,   but   because   she   has   such   high   standards   when   it   comes   to   personality.   she   could   never   date   someone   who   held   opposing   political   views   ,   otherwise   she’d   just   spend   all   her   time   arguing   with   them.   “   i   don’t   have   anywhere   to   be   but   that   doesn’t   mean   i   want   to   be   here   all   night  ,   ”   dani   points   out   ,   finally   turning   her   attention   to   the   file   so   she   can   read   through   it.   she   loves   her   job.   really   ,   she   does.   but   she   doesn’t   enjoy   having   to   do   someone   else’s   work   for   them.   “   you   should   go.   have   your   pizza.   ”
