Tim’s cheeks quickly colored a deep red. “So you’ve said before. I still don’t quite understand.”

It was one of the hazards of the job, Tim guessed, that normal sleeping patterns were an impossibility. It used to irk him, when he was younger and juggling his night life with early morning classes and homework and training and a social life. Now that he was out of school, things were a lot easier.
And it wasn’t as though there weren’t upsides to being nocturnal. Waking at three in the afternoon to find your face planted against your brother’s chest, having fallen asleep during a Star Wars marathon, for instance.
Tim felt his stomach grumble in complaint, and reluctantly extricated himself from Dick’s limbs (he was secretly part koala bear, especially when sleepy, and nobody would ever convince Tim otherwise).
“Hey, Dick.” He brushed his older brother’s overlong fringe out of the way and kissed his forehead gently. “I’m going to make pancakes. You want some, or should I just bring you up a bowl of cereal?”
