Welcome to another edition of The Pace Report featuring Israeli pianist and composer Shai Maestro performing new music from his latest ECM Records release, "The Dream Thief."
Shai first gained international prominence when he was a member of the Avishai Cohen Trio featuring drummer Mark Guiliana where they recorded four albums.
"The Dream Thief" was produced by ECM Records founder Manfred Eicher. I sat down with Shai during his performance at the Jazz Standard to talk about his latest CD, his working trio, and reflect on one of his musical heroes, Wayne Shorter.
