It was a beautiful day in a lively, sunny little village; the kind filled with faux-cobblestone streets and brand-name outlet shops, the air strongly smelling of greasy food vendors and sun-tan lotion. People, mainly tourists by the looks of them, crowded the streets and somewhere in the background gulls cried and waves gently crashed along a beach which Viridian could only imagine, on such a warm day, was swarming with vacationers.
Though she wasn’t fond of crowds it was a damned nice change from the places she was usually spat out. Civilization, even fake, over commercialized, over populated modern day American civilization was heaven after a long stint bouncing from one poverty stricken and/or alien world to the next.
All life in the multiverse was valid, of course... Viridian knew that. The being also knew what she preferred and this was essentially it.
And she had money! That was a nice surprise, waking up with a golden, gleaming credit card in her pocket. She was wont to be suspicious but maybe her company was finally starting to feel bad for her after all the hell she’d been through. So what was an interdimensional traveler to do first thing after ending up in a new location with no trouble in sight and some dough to spend? Well it was simple actually: Ice cream and lots of it. She stood in line patiently, drumming her fingers on the sides of her jeans (which were actually appropriate for once.) It was a long line, obviously, but indisputably worth the cold and creamy treasures that awaited at it’s end.
Funny thing though. Hot day, probably summer. Ice cream, shops... she’d expect to see more families around. Or. At least couples. Or... even some elderly with their grandkids. But everyone around looked to be about her age, 20 or 25, not much older. Spring break maybe? Yeah, that must have been it.
