Name: Alaric Ivanov?

Gender: Male

General appearance: He takes his mother's darker hair, but features are almost a dead ringer for his father.

Personality: He is absolutely outspoken, but not an overly energetic person by nature. Animation in him is speaking about things he's passionate about, but an absolute scholar and easily matches his father in magical ability and ability to get up to mischief if he wants.

Special Talents: He's fantastic at conjuring up items from thin air with amazing speed and weaving dream worlds together due to his father's magic, but mom's creative imagination/storytelling. Really he's very much a silver-tongue when he story tells and basically 'speaks' a dreamworld into existence if he wants.

Who they like better: His mother. He is especially overprotective of her.

Who they take after more: Definitely his father, but it causes some bit of friction due to similar personalities.

Personal headcanon: He doesn't care about the fact that his father is the goblin king or that he's technically royal. Definitely doesn't want a throne, but he's intrigued by the things he can accomplish with that role though so he's actively searching for a loophole.

"Isn't it?" Destiny wasn't something she thought of much and it was for the simple reason that she knew her destiny was probably a boring one she didn't want to think about. Exciting things happened to other people. Dynamic, confident people made their destiny or shaped it. She was so sure that her life was as unremarkable as she was and that her destiny would be just the same.

And yet there he was........standing in her bookshop asking that question with those mismatched eyes. Eyes that felt like a labyrinth of their own to get lost in and for a moment she did before snapping back to reality as the question set in.

Was destiny fixed?

She bristled slightly under his gaze, unsure of why she felt like she was failing some sort of test. Fingers thrummed on the back of a soft leather book before she tried to continue on. "What I mean is...I hope it isn't, but-" Lips pressed into a soft line while soft green eyes saddened. "I try not to think of it often. If I did then I'd have to consider my own and I'm afraid of what that would look like. Destiny thus far for me has decided that my life is to be ordinary without any adventure or magic and to spend the rest of my days in these four walls surrounded by pages and dead writers."

she laughed at the remark. he didn't mean it and she knew it. he couldn't regret meeting. regret what they accomplished or created. wish away their children. beautiful, brave, brilliant and wild children. she was so proud of their children. each and every one of them. fingers gingerly traced the curls of a spiral along the wall she sat beside in a garden. it was funny to see supple strong hands and fingers knot with age, painted with wrinkles and shook to pick up and move things. there was a time it bothered her to notice how she aged, once she almost asked him to make her like him.

but she knew vanity would fade in a few hours. she knew that time was precious. eternity was a trap. things go wrong. she didn't want to witness an eternity with no end. to fall for the silly cloaked immortality of youth. maybe it was selfish of her to want a natural course. some of the children didn't speak with her for a few years when she told them of her decision. she lost several weeks of not speaking with her husband due to his frustration with her human ideas of life, time and death.

yet here they were together. and she laughed, taking his hands in hers. "oh i know you don't mean that. i wouldn't change it for anything in the world. our children, jareth, our children....i adore them. please remind them of that in the coming decade, won't you? maybe someday in a few hundred years they'll understand why i chose this. and maybe you will too."
