The first time Credence had ever experienced a kiss had been with Fallon, an agreement to get their first kiss out of the way so that any awkwardness would at least be shared with a best friend. Now Credence found her lips pressed upon his own for a second, and he froze. He puckered his lips back out as was expected, but to say that he wasn’t expecting the sudden display of affection was an understatement. Instead he kept his arms by his sides, patiently waiting for what she was going to do next.

“Why did you do it? Tell me.” Fallon asks, tears stinging her eyes as she looks at Credence carefully.

Credence flinched away from the woman, nothing good ever came out of a woman being upset with him, whether it was his mother or his older sister. He avoided eye contact, crouching down as he shifted himself back into the corner.

“I don’t know… I don’t remember.”

Newt rather let out a rather undignified squawk of surprise as he was suddenly picked up and thrown over the woman’s shoulder. He just about lost his case but managed to keep a hold on that as he spoke up, voice cracking a little in his surprise.

“Um excuse me what are you doing?”

Fallon blushes at the sight over her and Newt's head. The two were at a Holiday party of mutual friends, Fallon giggles and points up. "Oh boy."

Newt sipped at the warm cider clasped in his hand, casting a questioning glance at Fallon as he followed her gaze upwards. He sputtered, coughing and nearly choking on his drink.

“Oh-” His cheeks flushed warmly as he blinked, biting his lip for a moment before he flashed her a nervous smile. He leaned down, pressing a chaste, friendly kiss to Fallon’s cheek before swiftly withdrawing.

“Happy holidays,” he murmured, chuckling softly.

Being back in New York was something of a nerve wracking experience for Newt given the events that had transpired the last time he was present. Seeing his friends again made enduring the nervous spells more than worthwhile, however. Jakob and his bakery were doing well and it seemed he and Queenie were making great bounds in their relationship. Tina was a workaholic as always, though Newt was glad to see her happy now that her position as an Auror had been reinstated.

Newt hadn’t expected to stay for dinner, but found it difficult to argue with the sisters. Once they had made up their minds, it was impossible for Newt to get a word in edgewise, though he found he didn’t mind so much. Their show of affection was refreshing and welcomed, and the redhead settled himself contentedly at the small table, his briefcase beside his feet.
