I'm actually usually not, really? actually, hiding by myself in a small quiet space can be really calming for me sometimes and not just because it gives me some more privacy to do my calming stims without fear of getting "quiet hands"-ed? it's more the "with other people" clause that' really important here because I don't have issues with the small spaces unless I don't have a little bit of personal space to work with in them.

like, it's really the personal space issue more than anything else and that'll trip me up every time. in my Thursday night class two weeks ago, I spent the second half of class in a really intense state of extended internal flapping because we rearranged the tables after the mid-class break and one of my classmates was sitting way too close to me. and really unnecessarily because there was more than enough space for both of us but she just kept getting so we were like shoulder to shoulder, and I didn't want to edge in on our professor's personal space but I had to scoot a little bit because I took my anti-panic attack meds and still felt like I couldn't breathe. :/
